Michigan St might be one of the most underrated teams in recent memory. They got pretty much no national media attention, were underdogs to Ohio State and Stanford, and have looked damned impressive all year

At least during the Outback Bowl, we learned John Gruden's intentions about his future in coaching.

Sadly, my money's on Texas Horns or maybe Oakland. For those of you in the North, Texas fans are the worst, even worse than LSU's.

Man, I've only seen Mich State about 3 times this year but I love to watch their offense. They are overmatched in this game but they're going at it with Stanford. If Bielema is ever going to get it going at Arkansas, their offense will look a lot like MSU's.

I don't know about overmatched. But for a couple of stupid turnovers they might be up 3 scores right now.

Before this game I would have said so. Stanford has looked great at times this year.

Never understood the fascination with David Shaw as a play caller. Stanford's offense is archaic and only really ever hummed when Luck was operating it.

No kidding. Felt like his play calling was a big part of their losses to Utah and USC. Can't forget the Orange Bowl a few years ago - with Andrew Luck in his last game, he played for a FG attempt and his freshman kicker missed. They lost in OT.

I know it's completely irrational and silly, but all things being equal I always cheer against the teams with ridiculous Nike Combat uniforms like Baylor, Oregon, Rutgers, Texas Tech.

Yeah, Shaw gets a lot of credit for his "NFL style" offense, but nobody ever mentions its 1980s NFL.

"Hey, let's go tight line splits, modified wishbone backfield and run a lead dive....they'll never see that coming!"

I couldn't have been happier when they came out in their jumbo formation at the end of the game. No chance against MSU in that kind of game. I think Herbstreit is correct when he says that the way to attack MSU is downfield, which Stanford did several times. But they spent most of the game trying to nickle and dime MSU.... no chance

Funny that there was a lot of grumbling at ND about the MSU win. Based on last year, it felt like too close of a game and lots of people were upset that we couldn't win by more. But MSU ended up with the best defense in CFB this year and ND ended up beating a 13-win team. Not sure how many times that's happened in CFB, but it can't be many. Never begrudge a W, especially early in the year when rankings are even more meaningless.

If Dantonio and Narduzzi stick around long term, they might finally end "Sparty No!!!" as a thing. If so, and Meyer doesn't have another heart attack, things could get pretty dicey in AA for the next several years.

Texas Tech is UA.

Still equally ridiculous. Thankfully, the Hogs are out of their Nike contract now and have promised to go back to their traditional look next year.

"You can print this: You can print that I don't really give a ---- what the 'Paterno people' think about what I do with this program. I've done everything I can to show respect for Coach Paterno."
“For any ‘Paterno person’ to have any objection to what I’m doing, it makes me wanna put my fist through this windshield right now.”

Penn St is going to be in really good shape with schiano. Id way rather have schiano than obrien. Hes coming into a 2-year bowl ban and hes lost ten scholarships. Hes in better shape than Kiffen was when he took over SC.

Schiano is gonna be there for 15 years and PSU will be a power again. I follow college football a long time and jerk-tyrants with a lot of rope do really well. Schiano was very good in a tough environment at rutgers as a historical also-ran and a program at the absolute depths on D-1 football (Terry Shea had control of that program for 5 years prior) and the big east was very strong back then. He took a team with no business being decent and made them good. Given some time at PSU he will have them contending.

I know he's the favorite, but I hope PSU aims higher

Schiano would be what, the 7th best coach in the conference? Maybe worse? I'm not really impressed by him winning 8 games a year in the last days of a horrific Big East. I doubt he'll crater the program, but he's a guy that who's questionable to outlast his first recruiting class.

They would give him lots of time. And 6 Big Ten coaches are better? I can see Meyer and Dantonio (only based on his recent season) but no way id put Kill Pelini Ferentz as definately better. The jury is out on the wisconsin guy and hes definately better than Fitz and hoke and the rest of the big ten coaches are pretty much garbage.
