I know I'm in the minority here, but pushing the draft later has killed all my enthusiasm for it. I'm so tired of hearing about and and reading about it.

I was reading chatter earlier that Detroit is talking to Watkins about trading up for him. That one doesn't make a lot of sense, and I like Watkins.

I mean it's scary to think about but yea, doesn't make sense.

Sure it does.

I LOVE Watkins as a prospect but when you're looking at a strong WR class, it isn't worth that premium you'll pay when you already have a top 5 receiver because you gotta go top 3/4, but realistically Jax and Cle aren't moving down, which means you gotta pay STL their kings ransom. Better to grab another WR later and fill another need, of which they have many.

It would be one thing if he fell to them or they were trading up a few spots, but that's not going to happen.

The primetime and multiple day airing has killed my enthusiasm. The draft is ideal saturday afternoon background noise in the spring. But it blows as primetime television and spread across half a week. The fact that it is May has nothing to do with it for me.

It being 2 weeks later means 2 more weeks of talking about it instead of just doing it

well, I don't watch ESPN or listen to sports talk so that doesn't affect me.

The biggest positive was making the first round quicker and putting it into more bite size viewing pieces, round 2-7 are more background viewing to me, whereas the first round I pay closer attention to. I like the round one format though I can't decide if I'd rather have it on a Thursday night when there's other prime time television or Friday night when when I might be doing something.

As far as May... Tbd. I don't necessarily like the extra time but may end up enjoying the shorter turnaround to the OTAs, minicamps, etc.

@LanceZierlein: Hearing from league source that Jason Verrett could fall out of the first round due to some medical concerns.

Probably the most technically sound CB available in the first few rounds, the main knock on him had been his height.

I don't care much about the draft being pushed to May but the multiple day is just killer. I wouldn't have minded round one on a weekday at primetime if the rest of the draft was on Saturday.

And of course MLB decided to follow that pattern and extend the draft.

@BobMcGinn: Three NFL people that I really trust say the league is giving serious consideration to scheduling the draft a week or two later in 2015.

I'm sure the draft combine will be spread out over a month, too.

The MLB one is crazy to me since they just started making it an event to watch and still do not know how to properly hype/rationalize the pick. Every selection is compared to the guy currently playing that position at the major league level on that team. They have a product worth watching, but diluting that product before it ever became popular in the first place seems misguided to me.

So that would put round one Friday night and round 2-7 on the next Saturday? The old format was rounds 3-7 on Sunday and that was a marathon. I think to give round one it's own day, you have to spread it over three days. It is the most important coverage wise so you prioritize the schedule around that. That being said, they're talking about a four day event and I'm not seeing the necessity for that.

Yeah, the NFL has made such an overwrought production of the draft that it is a total turnoff. Having only one round on the first day is a total joke. I completely agree about it being ideal as one day weekend thing.

I just want to know who picked who, there's absolutely no need for all the pomp.

I can understand if you just like it as background noise, but if you like viewing each pick and getting all the player eval stuff, I think three days splits it into reasonable viewing portions. Sat and Sun used to be a marathon, and I loved it, but not sure is be able to do that now.

If you just wanna see who was picked where and follow the trade movement find a good twitter feed and watch whatever tv you'd prefer to watch.

I want some channel or website to have an uninterrupted close up feed of Johnny Football's face so we can watch it grow sadder and sadder as teams pass on him. It will be Matt Leinart x10

I'll be floored if he isn't the first QB taken and doesn't go top 10.

Yeah, he's not falling too far. I imagine he'll be gone after pick 8, whether to Minnesota or through trade.

No. Kid straight up obliterated every SEC record for QB offense. Someone in the top 10 will take the risk.

Chatter I'm hearing is that Tampa is the only team in the top 15 who actually wants him.

That doesn't preclude someone outside of the top 15 from trading up for him.

If HOU trades out of #1, who is the most likely partner? ATL?
