I watched every, non-coastal carolina or ecu, SC game for clowney's tenure and absolutely get it. Not that alshon, lattimore, melvin ingram and others havent looked good but Clowney is in another class.

He was a beast last year also. They stuck a camera on him every play and every time he subbed out (obviously very common for d-lineman) they questioned his commitment. When you have a monster you gameplan for it and teams did so his stats were down and Kelcy quarles was a 1rst team all-american.

He had some minor injuries so he sat out coastal carolina and kentucky two games when he was not needed. Clowney was a victim of the espn machine gearing up on him. Hes gonna be a beast and if cost the bears a swap and next years first and second they should do it.

I understand ESPNs creating a non story. But I do not think that has anything to do with what I mean. He was just largely unproductive. If it is what Rawaction said then fine, but I still think it would scare me if I was a GM thinking about trading up to get him. I think there are a couple valid questions about him. Is he too good of an athlete that he has not worked that hard on improving technique? Also, if he was just coasting to not get hurt, can he be trusted to not coast later? Listen I am not saying he is not a top 5 pick or even not the number 1 overall. I just think if it was me, I would be apprehensive about trading up and adding at least another number 1 to get him.

I wouldn't trade up because the cost is not worth it but he's absolutely the best defensive player I've seen in college football since Julius Peppers, maybe better than Peppers. If I were Atlanta, I wouldn't hesitate to trade up.

Don't discount the double team+chip/triple teams and the fact that something like 90% of plays were run away from him. NFL teams can't get away with that stuff. He does need to be coached up on technique/diversifying pass rush moves, but even as is, he should be a monster immediately.

Maybe you dont trade it, id like to see it as a SC person but whatever. Seems like every GM tries to trade down. That said I would have zero questions personally on clowney. He was very productive. It really depended on who called the game; some games they would say "look how tired he is conditioning!" "Still waiting to call #7!!" and some games the TV crew would show replays of him blowing up half the line or him occupying three blockers on a play. It all depends if the TV crew calls attention to what he was doing.

Yep, I had little problem with his season. ESPN was doing the hype, then tear down thing with him and Manziel.

He definitely took plays off but it sure seems like that comes with the territory for DL. Peppers, Mario Williams, Pierre-Paul, Gerald McCoy are just a few I can think of off the top of my head who've been accused similarly.

TF are they doing? I'd rather see the creamsickle [expletive] than these XFL throwbacks.

Really shows the depth of this draft on the defensive side when guys like Ford, Mosely, Ealy, Hagemen and Jernigan are all going 20 or later. Makes me think Emery and Co. would be better off trading back into the late first and picking up a 2nd or 3rd.

I'm all-in on trading down into the 20s and getting Ealy + another pick if he's going to fall that far.

The problem is there doesn't seem to be much of a market for the 14th pick. I guess there's always one of those minor draft day trades where you go down a few spots.

yeah, i agree. honestly, i'd be all in on Ealy at 14. i'm not entirely convinced he'll fall into the 20s, but if it looks like he'll still be there at 17-18 and they can get a 3rd rounder out of it, why not

I can see 12-15 being a very popular spot for teams to want to trade up.

Cleveland- if they go Watkins at 4, they could trade up for Carr, not sure who they would be jumping, but they can't allow a team to trade in front of them if that's who they want.

Dallas- love Donald. Of course, if they think the Bears want him they'll try for 13.

Philly- needs a S badly. Could try to jump the Rams at 13. Could try to jump Dallas or Pittsburgh who could be looking at S also. Even GB, 1 pick ahead of them could go S early.

Whichever of Mike Evans or Justin Gilbert gets past Detroit at 10, will be a guy teams will look to trade for. Probably try to jump the Rams for either though.

He definitely gets the award in this draft class for "most likely to go Richie Incognito".

— The Chicago Bears are rumored to have strong interest in the cornerback position. A source with a team picking after the Bears in Round 1 tells me he or she expects the team to draft the best corner available with pick No. 14.

Read that. I'd guess Gilbert would be gone. He's gotta be a threat to go every pick from about Minnesota (8th) on. I like Dennard, but don't know if I love him in the top 15. Of course, I'd almost never pick a CB in the top 20 unless I'm getting Patrick Peterson/Joe Haden.
