How does McCown have a 115 QB rating, Forte over 100 yards rushing and the Bears only score 20 points?

Vikings had to have like 15 things go their way to win this and they got them all

Driving back home. Missed game. What did Trestman do that was so stupid? Conservative play calling?

Opted for a 47 yard FG on 2nd down instead of running another play, which isn't something I've ever seen done ever.

I mean, if we'd have won a SB recently these losses would be easier to take. When is it gonna happen? Edited by Stannis

My teams never ever win like that. They never win anything except in hockey

I know you're more than old enough to have enjoyed it...so except when they have the greatest player ever and win 6 championships in 8 years too.

His two TD passes were underthrown and only Jeffrey going cheat code turned them into TDs. McCown was bad.

And Shea McClellin's lack of blocking on that return looks even worse.

So everyone is finally agreeing with me that Mr. CFL is a [expletive] head coach? Hate to see I was right a couple months ago.

it was stupid to pan it so early. question it? sure. but now its appropriate to seriously doubt his ability to be a head coach.

it sucks because he made the offense good but these decisions are maddenly stupid.

Serious doubt? Maybe. But you can't believe he has made the offense better and then want him fired definitely for the second part. Old Style wasn't right then and isn't right now.

Moving the ball well but a lot of drives are stalling.

That's gotta be one of the most annoying Bears losses in recent memory. Wasn't too painful, just extremely annoying

Yeah, I'm not even upset since I expected a loss. Just annoyed that they had a chance to delay the playoff elimination but failed.

Tried a 47-yard field goal on 2nd down with 4 minutes left in overtime rather than try to get closer.

That's another reason why it was stupid. A tie is as good as a win relative to the Lions. There's 4 minutes left and the Bears have just rushed for 2 first downs. It was what 2nd and 7? Other than a fumble or a massive loss of yards, whats the downside in running 1-2 more plays? Yeah you might get a holding penalty but you don't lose the down and the defense probably plays back a bit to not give up the 1st. Oh BTW Forte has one of the best fumble rates in the [expletive] NFL since he's been here. Run 2 more times and [expletive] milk the clock. Get it down to 2 minutes so the Vikings have to rush their drive.

Oh and how many [expletive] times do you actually see botch snaps on FG attempts? Maybe 3-4 times a season for the entire league? The only time you can afford to kick a FG early is if its inside 35 yards and its a game winning situation or you are out of time (obviously). There is absolutely no reason for Trestman to kick a [expletive] 47 yard FG on 2nd and 7.

And THEN you add in the fact that the Bears have a terrible defense and the Vikings have Adrian [expletive] Peterson. Why do you even risk giving them a short field needing a FG to win if you don't have to???

Boggles my mind in so many ways.

He was terrible, but in bizarro bears offense world the team made him look competent.

Trestman says he didnt want to risk a penalty or fumble and that's why he kicked on 2nd down.

Yeah well that's double dog dumb

I'm serious, the Bears have never won a game like that. They lose every single one.

Cleveland 2001

And SF 2001.

That's quite an exaggeration. The Bears also had a lot of things go their way also. It was just an amazing collection of errors and [expletive] ups by both teams.

Terrible refs helped the Vikings in a huge way

If that was Cutty throwing the ball on the ground like a jackass and stalling the offense all day the meatball brigade would be out en masse

This. If that was a Bostic taunt, then that was a late hit on Allen. Terrible.

Can't wait till Manziel is the #1 pick next spring.

I have no interest in canning trestman at this point. No interest at all. And I think he's insane

Yeah.

Makes me sad though.

We are trapped with him for awhile. He either gets better at this, or I will have no hair left.

I definitely think its an overreaction to want Trestman fired. If you want Trestman fired you want Emery fired, which admittedly may align for some people. But a head coach doesn't get fired after year one without wholesale changes elsewhere too. Hell, throw Philips in there as well (again I may be preaching to the insane choir here anyways)

Definitely perplexed by the decision to go for it there. It would seem to me to go against the analytical angle of weighing outcomes (which I think has been Trestman's claim). I do think the penalty/turnover risk wasn't sufficient enough as an excuse, so long as the right plays are called. To me it reads as too much confidence in Robbie Gould. Don't follow your confidence, just keep looking at the outcomes and trying to improve your chances of winning. Everyone thought Robbie would make that, but it isn't good enough reason. Good post by UMFan above outlining the fact that Forte and Peterson where the two backs in the game, and for an OT with 4 minutes left being played between the two 30's, it was in our favor to keep going.
