Some of the most boring NFL football I've tried to watch this season. I thought at least the Saints would be good for some scoring, but no.

Atlanta just went from a slightly above average team with insane schedule and close-game luck to a slightly below average team with bad schedule and close-game luck.

I feel like the Saints are doing it with smoke and mirrors this year. They are near the top of the league in total offense. Run game isn't very good. Brees is going to throw for over 5000 yards again, but they don't seem as potent as years past. They are Of course, Graham is a beast, but Brees is just dumping it off to RBs other than that. Colston has 2 TDs and 3 games of 80 yards receiving. 3 games in a row he had under 20 yards. Their #2 WR, Still has been a non-factor outside of only 3 games. Lance Moore has missed 3 games and been a non-factor in most of the games he's played.

Their defense has been strong, but the personnel doesn't seem like anything special. And they haven't really played many elite offenses. Bears, Dallas, Falcons and Pats are the best O's they've played, and none of those teams have been all that consistently good this year (except maybe the Bears).

They still rank top 10 on both sides of the ball though.

Part of it is they don't have to be great this year to still stick out. There's plenty of mediocrity out there to hide a team's flaws.

There's mediocrity in every NFL season.

I just think that NO can beaten by other good teams.... even at home. Still holes in their pass D. They can't win an overwhelming number of battles on the outside with their WRs. Put your best cover guy on Graham to get physical with him and key on the underneath stuff to the RBs.

I don't disagree.

Their remaining schedule isn't all that favorable, either. I'd be surprised if they win next week in Seattle. They still have 2 games left against Carolina.

Well, I'm hoping they do well. If the Bears get in, it's probably as a wildcard. And to do so, they could use those 2 losses by Carolina. Would also rather go to NOLA in the 2nd round over Seattle.

In my absolutely biased opinion, I think the Saints are as able as any team in football to go all the way. There simply isn't a super team out there. The next 4 games will tell the tale, but I wouldn't be shocked at all to see them go 3-1. Keep in mind that the 2 losses that the Saints had were on a miracle hail mary by Tom Brady, and a gift to the Jets after committing 4 turnovers and constantly shooting themselves in the foot.

If the criticism is that Drew isn't throwing to the wideouts as much this year, I think that much of that reason is Jimmy Graham. There's only one football, and Drew goes to him when he needs a play where those passes used to go to Colston or Lance Moore. Pierre Thomas has been the best screen player in football for awhile now and they use that play often. The Championship team's O was much more reliant on the big play. This team seems much more of a grinder, fundamentally sound, long scoring drive type offense, which may be a result of having a better defense.

What gives me more optimism than anything this year is the defense, specifically stopping the run. This defense is much better than the Super Bowl year. That unit that year was much more "smoke and mirrors" or bend but don't break type unit than this team's D.

Better than Darren Sproles?

Yes, and this comes from a guy who sometimes wears a Sproles jersey to games. Sproles is absolutely more of the home run guy, but Pierre Thomas runs the screen like a thing of beauty. When we need a play, he's my second favorite option after Jimmy Graham.

pretty monumental [expletive] up by Stafford before the half

What'd he do, the play by play shows nothing out of the ordinary

LOL.

From Rotoworld...

Jamaal Charles rushed 14 times for 115 yards with two touchdowns and added four catches for 42 yards in Sunday's 41-38 Week 12 loss to the Chargers.

Charles' burst was back. On an eye-opening 46-yard run in the fourth quarter, he completely catfished Manti Te'o in the hole and took off. It was as if Te'o didn't even exist. The touchdowns were Charles' first since Week 7 and it was his first 100-yard rushing game since Week 5. Operating as a true every-down plus goal-line back (Knile Davis had just one touch), Charles continues to combine elite talent with unique volume. He's averaging 23.0 touches per game heading into the Week 13 rematch with the Broncos.

Still funny.
