Week 7 - Bears (4-2) @ Humanskins (1-3) 12 pm CT FOX

This game has a scary feel to it. Reminds me of the Seahawks game last year.

Reminds me of every Redskins game of late. They are never anything special but a bad fit for Bears. RGIII could rack up a ton of fantasy points.

Oh god the 'Skins. I remember the first game Kyle Orton started, he almost pulled it out, but then I believe Fred Miller and company had 3 false starts in a row, led to an insane 3rd and 35 or something, and they lost to Washington without giving up a touchdown.

Then you had that horrible awful, still killing me, Todd Collins game. You can't lose that game. Some part of me thinks the reason Collins was picked up as a back up was because of this game. Doubly awful.

And the 2010 game. No excuses to lose that one. Donovan McNabb was terrible, the Bears were running up and down the field, and Cutler just had to throw the most inconvenient interceptions ever. I believe Hester also had a game winning kick off return waved off.

So Washington has been the source of some really, really, really painful losses recently. Also, change the name already, god.

Yeah I agree, the last few times we played them I thought we should win going into the game and lost all 3 in really annoying frustrating ways.

The last time I remember beating them, Urlacher got a TD reception on a fake FG.

These memories are insane -- I can't remember last season.

Didn't the Bears win the game where Briggs clothes-lined Patrick Ramsey and knocked him out of the game?

Was that in 2003? After looking it up it looks like that's actually the last time the Bears have beaten the Skins. Bears are 2-10 in their last 12 against them.

In the 05 game that I posted, both ramsey and brunell played.

I think the 03 game was one of those games at the end of the season when Rex started and looked pretty good and got everyone excited.

That was in fact the game, and you are right about the Grossman game in '03. I believe he ended up breaking a finger at the end of the game and the season ended with Kordell at QB.

God I forgot just *how bad* Kyle Orton was in that 2005 rookie season. They had 166 yards and 11 first downs in that whole game. He had a 59.7 rating on the year. And it was a huuuuuuge citywide argument on whether or not Rex Grossman should take his job back when he got back from the injury. (Of course Grossman was similarly unproven) ((And Bad))

I've never been more grateful to have Jay Cutler on the Bears than by looking back at these teams. Yeesh.

By the time it happened, I don't think there was much of a debate.

Soldier Field went NUTS when Grossman came in for the second half against the Falcons. And then even crazier on that first long completion to Moose.

That was so awesome. <3 sexy rexy

I remember it like it was yesterday.

That interception by the goal line that turned into a fumble that turned into a touchdown ROFL

There was almost no argument. I remember a small minority of people saying they should keep Kyle as QB because they were winning and he was a great game manager for that defense, but that is idiotic and those people's opinions don't count because they are idiots. And Rex wasn't similarly unproven, he was a first round pick in his 3rd year in the NFL, and although those first 2 years were full of injuries he still had at least 4 starts coming into that game. Kyle was a 4th round pick and a rookie.

I remember the Bears beating the Packers twice -- once with Orton and once with Grossman -- and feeling like this team was finally on the right track. And it was, for a little while :)

You take that back about Rex. He was magic.

Rex was really fun for 2006. Even though you could see the walls closing in on him by the end, that was just such a fun year. The Seattle playoff game...the New Orleans playoff game =D>

Heck Orton wasn't without his charms. He had a legitimately decent year in 2008, but the hip injury sorta knocked him astray and you can't turn down the chance at Cutler. Oh well, strange, weird, sometimes fun times. :hello:

Blog updated with Game 7 preview.

I was going to mention special teams, and you beat me to it. The Skins are dead last in ST DVOA. They've been pulling up the rear all season, and last week didn't help them at all.

If there was ever a game for Hester to come through with a couple nice returns, this is it.

I'm hoping the Bears pull out a close one Sunday. We haven't matched up against Washington very well, but all those teams were completely different than this one. In 2013, both WAS and CHI have better offenses than defenses. But the Bears are ranking better on both sides of the ball. The Bears do look worse on ST this year, making me wish Toub would have stuck around. But it's nothing like that 32nd ranked Redskins unit.

That said, I believe Washington is looking a little better now than they did earlier in the year, and I can't say that about the Bears. And, they are at home after all.

I'm expecting both teams to move the ball effectively against these defenses, although I'm not convinced that either team will score a lot of TDs. That means somewhere along the line, drives will either stall, or a TO will happen, or a FG instead of a TD. Here's hoping it's the Skins on that side of the equation more than the Bears. The Bears definitely have the edge in TO ratio this year, with the Skins slightly in the negative (-2) and the Bears near the top at +7. That may continue Sunday -- although my sense is that the Skins won't be so loose with the football that the Bears can just beat them solely on crushing turovers.

I'm going to go 27-24 Bears. Possibly an OT win. Special teams could be the difference here -- if Hester can channel his old self on a few chances, it could flip the score and allow the Bears to get out of town and into the bye with a win.

And if he can't, there won't be an easier team to do it against for the rest of the season.

38-34 Bears.

Hopefully they suffer no serious injuries.

5-2 is fine, we'll see after Detroit and Green Bay where they stand. I think they're the worst of the 3, unfortunately.
