I wish there was some way to not punish the current coaches and players at PSU while still laying out punishment on those who were guilty of crimes. Too bad that does not seem possible.

There is. It's called the criminal justice system. Those accused of crimes have either already had their day in court (Sandusky) or will soon (Schultz, Curley, Spanier).

That's treating the symptom, not the disease. The culture at PSU (and other places) made it all possible and has to be changed.

And the punishment is being reduced because the school is showing that they've changed the culture.

I feel like EhDubya's stance is showing the culture hasn't changed.

I'm not sure how me being proud of the countless student-athletes that have represented PSU honorably throughout my lifetime has anything to do with a criminal matter perpetuated by a few men. I guess everyone here should be ashamed to be American because of Nixon's Watergate scandal or Clinton lying about his affairs in the oval office?

But like said above, weird to be talking about this in 2013 so I'll shut up now.

Alabama backs out of Michigan State series in 2016-17 because of 'uncertainty in the SEC schedule' according to the Detroit Free Press. Looks like a 9-game league slate is all but confirmed.

Meanwhile, Bama is apparently in talks to play a "big name" school in a neutral site game in 2016 to replace MSU.

You should be proud of those who have represented the university. With that said, I don't think anyone is being critical of everyone associated with Penn State. It should be noted one of the ones who knew and did nothing which allowed it to happen again is/was the face of the university. It also is the worst thing to ever happen in collegiate sports.

Given the unfort. reduction of sanctions this week, it should remain relevant.

Your metaphor is ridiculous, you're comparing someone lying about committing adultery and burglary to raping a child. If Nixon and Clinton did that in the White House or did nothing, there would be some shame. Alums from Penn State should be the most angry.

Yeah, it was a minor story. Not really a big deal, in a few years Joe will be a hero again.

Should be a good time watching Manziel bitch-slap Bielema's crew.

As a Razorback fan, let me tell you that this will happen and it will be a slaughter. Our starting QB is probably still out this week and the backup is dreadful, like it's as if he's never seen an actual football before dreadful. I am expecting something along the lines of 44-10.

You have a couple of good RB's from what little I've seen. Our D is still shaky against the run, so I'd bet you'll put up more than 10. I also think we'll score more than 44, though. Wish I was making the trip to Fayetteville.

Williams is a very good RB, but he is nothing compared to the freshman RB Alex Collins. Wow. He reminds you of Marshawn Lynch and it's not just because he's a black dude with dreads.

The offensive line is solid. D-line is borderline great with depth. The LBs are not good and the DBs are so-so. None of this matters if you see AJ Derby line up under center-just godawful. Brandon Allen is supposedly still hurting and they as of yet haven't taken the redshirt off of his younger brother, Austin, who is supposedly lighting it up in practice. That is the only shot Arkansas has of keeping it from getting ugly.

Big non-conference games at neutral sites are better than no good non-conference games at all, I guess, but Georgia/Clemson kicked all kinds of ass and I don't understand why more games like that can't be played on campus. It's not like Bama has anything to fear from Michigan State anyway.

I imagine it's largely because most schools can't afford to give away a home game's revenue with regularity, so they split a neutral gate

Can't afford to or don't want to? Bama doesn't need another home game to survive.

I was speaking more generally than to Bama, but they probably have more trouble than most schools in getting a decent opponent to travel there. It makes sense to me to replace a home and home with one neutral game if you're cancelling because the 2nd year of the home and home might not be open for conference scheduling reasons.

I'm looking at the schedule and this is going to be a brutal stretch for Arkansas. The problem is just where the Razorbacks are vs. just about everyone else in the conference. There's an awful lot of work to do down there.

Yikes. Arkansas is in deep [expletive]. Our OL is as good, if not better, than last year's. And that was very, very good.

I've heard Allen is starting at QB so I imagine we'll load up the box to slow down the run and dare him to throw on us.

I imagine that is the strategy of every team going forward against Arkansas. If Allen is indeed healthy and starting then the Hogs have a chance to keep it somewhat close. Hatcher (#4) is pretty good at receiver. My favorite player on the team is Kiero Small at FB. He is a bad MFer one man wrecking crew as a lead blocker. If we can get 4 yards a carry and mix in some play action it might be interesting for awhile.

My bad, I thought Allen was the backup.

Ole Miss is 1-24 in their last 25 games at Bama. Yikes.

So you're saying there's a chance...

Whoa... I didn't know there were Razorbacks fans on here. I went to Architecture school there and I ALMOST drop everything last night and went to Fayetteville (10 hr drive) so I could tailgate/go to the game today. Still have friends down there who go to school that had extra tickets.

Just an absolute joke of a targeting call. I knew it was horse [expletive] in real speed, how can the refs not see it when they're 20 feet away? That rule needs to be revoked.

South Carolina safety ejected for targeting. He didn't target, didn't even hit the player above the shoulder.

Oh, they reversed the ejection but the penalty stands. This and the Hasean Clinton-Dix penalty/ejection are such a joke.

Happened in the OU game a couple weeks ago. Safety ran through a WR who was attempting to make a one hand reach in for a pass in the end zone. Hit was shoulder to shoulder, drew a targeting flag and an ejection. They reviewed it, and let the guy stay in the game, but couldnt reverse the yardage and TU scored on the next play.

If you're going to let them review the hit, let them pick up the flag. Refs can already throw a flag and then pick it up after a discussion with other refs, why is it more ridiculous to let them pick up the flag after reviewing the actual play in slow motion?
