how was that cruz td not a "process" td like calvin johnson's? caught the ball in midair, got both feet down, reached out with the ball and dropped it when it hit the ground

I dont understand the rule anymore at all.

Cruz made a football move. He landed and re-positioned/redirected his body and the ball to try and get the football across the plane. Johnson's natural momentum took in deeper into the end zone and to the ground. No football move.

If you make a "football" move, then you have maintain possession through the entire process of said "football move" right or am I wrong?

If the ball breaks the plane of the goal line while in the hands of the ball carrier, it's a TD even if he loses possession afterwards.

I can imagine Schiano's whole persona will eventually rub people the wrong way, especially if he is losing. However, this is Freeman's year to show something, so he may be the scapegoat if he doesn't progress. Both guys have the benefit of a fan base who doesn't give a damn unless they are winning.

That benefit also comes with the cost of the team struggling to maintain interest when they do suck.

For a team that suffers from low fan interest when they suck, the Jets sure do get an awful lot of national coverage.

I was referring to Tampa. The Jets, and to a lesser extent the Giants, have struggled a bit with fan interest since the move to the new Meadowlands (WHICH IS AN ABSOLUTELY TERRIBLE STADIUM). But the Jets don't really struggle with interest all that much.

The national coverage is somewhat justified for the Jets because you are looking at a team that was seemingly poised to overtake the Patriots, had significant postseason success with a bombastic head coach and first round QB, then fell apart. They were a pretty interesting story, and probably will be until Rex has his final meltdown and is fired.

Out of curiosity, what sucks about the new Meadowlands? I've heard that from a few people. It looks nice on TV at least.

It's the entire experience, not just stadium.

The tailgate options have been ruined for lots of people. At the outset, it cost $2B to make a bloated copy of the old stadium. The stadium is ginormous and seats are much more expensive, and worse. There is a giant section at midfield for all the executive types, and it's always empty. From outside it looks like a window shutter warehouse. There's nothing new or interesting about it, just more expensive.

Technically, one doesnt have possessionuntil the catch is finished.

LOL @ Harbaugh's comments on Matthews today.

There's going to come a time when Jimbo's barely-contained inner rage is just going to boil over, and it's going to be one hell of a show.

RGIII doesn't look right, he doesn't appear to be planting/putting any weight on his right knee/leg. Especially on throws Edited by Cubswin11

Please tell me Berman isn't doing game 2 on MNF

I was all excited thinking they'd replaced him as halftime host, but that doesn't seem to be the case :x

Random thoughts:

-for a team with such a storied history, the Redskins seem to have a lot of available numbers in the 80s. No TEs with 40-numbers. Only a couple WRs in the teens.

- I don't know that this Eagles offense is that fast, as much as the players running it are fast and getting to show it in the open field with the spread offense.

- I never want my team to hire any coach that has been a regular on TV. Gruden talks like a crazy person.

At least once tonight he's said some particularly stupid bit of football lore that had his partner shut up for a few seconds, then act like it didn't happen

And now we learned that Gruden doesn't understand why a player gets a tackle for touching a guy who's on the ground but not intentionally giving himself up
