I wouldn't put it past Baez, either.

Definitely possible, but I feel more comfortable with Bryant in 2014. Past that? I'd probably flip a coin.

I find it absolutely ridiculous that the Cubs are so loaded with power bats that a guy like Dan Vogelbach is probably only 4th on the list for power potential.

2B Alcantara

3B Baez

2B Baez

3B Olt

OF Bryant

or

2B Baez

3B Bryant

OF FA

If this is the everything is roses scenario, I don't think Alcantara can outproduce a completely fixed Olt. And I don't have confidence that Alcantara can outproduce even a moderate priced OF option like a Schierholtz/Sweeney & Lake platoon.

Then again, the ideal scenario probably has Alcantara and Vogelbach included in a trade for:

2B Baez

3B Bryant

RF Stanton

My everything comes up roses Alcantara is a .280/.350/.450 15-20 HR, 30 steal guy. I used him over Olt because of the switch hitting honestly.....

Olt is my .260/.350/.500 Ben Zobrist utility guy though.... :D

Maybe Baez and Bryant are ready enough that the Cubs could start them in the majors and actually try to be good next season. Baez is riskier but I really think Bryant could OPS around .800.

I'm probably over reacting.

I just googled to figure out who Voldemort is.

I don't know if not knowing that makes me cooler or nerdier.

Are any of the Solar Sox games going to be televised? I thought MLBN aired a few games in past seasons Edited by Cubswin11

Was checking out AFL stats and noticed Scottsdale 2B Tommy La Stella (Braves) has a beautiful 10/0 BB/K so far. Crazy discipline through his first 3 minor league seasons as well. Will be 25 next season but someone to keep an eye on.

It would hardly be unprecedented.

Hilarious...my buddy and I were talking about that group as well the other day. And people wonder why Zambrano lost his mind :-)

Just the all-star game.

I wonder if Bryant regrets that month time he wasted before signing. The way he was mashing, did he cost himself a promotion with the lost 100 PAs?

After seeing Puig, I really want to see more of Soler. Are there any vids showing his athleticism defensively or his arm? He feels like more of a mystery than the other guys.

Well we've at least gotten to see him play on TV a few times when he was in spring training with the big club, which I can't really say for Almora or Bryant (although Almora did have some televised game early this year where he got an AB...forget what it was...some kind of futures type deal).

So is it possible we see Bryant AND Baez by June next season?

I know it sounds crazy but I really think it's a possibility.

I think this will depend greatly on (obviously) how well they start off, but more importantly, how well Castro and (potentially) Olt start off. If they play well, no need to rush the prospects or start their clock early.

I don't think Castro's performance next year, either way, is going to be much of a factor in delaying/speeding up Javy's or Bryant's promotion to MLB. If they are performing well in AA/AAA and the FO feels they can handle MLB they will be up and find a spot for them somewhere.

They aren't going to rush one or both of them because someone at the MLB level isn't doing well and call one/both up when they aren't ready and risk ruining on or both. If they are doing well and Castro is doing well there are enough potential open spots between 3B/2B/LF/RF that they will be able to get them in the lineup everyday if they feel one or both is ready.
