So Gordon Wittenmeyer and Dan Bernstein are sniping at each other.

Yesterday, Boers mentions that Wittenmeyer had said something about Kris Bryant being angry at the Cubs for not getting called up, and how it could lead to him leaving when he's a free agent...someday. Bernstein mocked this, basically said that Wittenmeyer was full of [expletive], and that all of Dan's sources say that Bryant is completely on board with the Cubs plan, has never been lied to or mislead, and that he's basically a super nice guy and that Wittenmeyer is terrible, and the Sun Times coverage has been awful on the Cubs, deliberately misunderstanding "the plan". Said that either Theo or Jed specifically went to the Sun Times asking what questions they had, and what they could clear up, but at this point...they're just done doing that. This whole discussion sprouted out of Telander's stupid questions in the Theo press conference yesterday.

So this morning, Wittenmeyer goes on Mulley and Hanley, saying "Your boy in the afternoon over there.....he never shows up anywhere. I'm not sure who he even talks to. Disagree with me if want but don't question my credibility. When I write something, I've talked to both sides."

He called him "Your boy" a few times, and Hanley had to specifically ask if he was referring to Dan or Terry...to which he specified Terry. Finished by saying Bernstein could kiss his butt.

lmao

Gonna find a score stream at 1 pm to hear Dan's response

What did Telander ask Theo?

And god, our local media is insufferable.

I'm paraphrasing, but he asked something like "When will it stop being "next year"...2019??"

[expletive]...i was hoping they would introduce something like mlb.tv for nfl games...really hate holding on to directv just for the nfl package.

considering all I've heard is telander asked dumb questions, with no specifics, I am going to guess he asked Theo which type of pest he finds most annoying, and the answer was a fly.

He asked him if a hot dog was a sandwich.

I fear Sunday Ticket will get even more expensive as DTV tries to cover the cost. I used to find radio streams before I had Sunday Ticket and might consider going back to that.

something like that does exist.

Only for a very select few.

I think they have found the price point where people won't be so eager to go higher. It went from $120 - $300 from the early 2000s to late 2000s but it has held steady the past few years after several people dumped or threatened to dump on the last price bump.

I'm considering dropping DTV. I can pay it, and I like DTV in general, but I did some math on the expense. This year I will miss around 6 Bear games without NFLST. Give or take a game.

I think ST with the extras is $350 or something like that.

So I'm paying ~$60 for each of those 6 games. Yes, I know you get more with ST but let's face it, I'm paying for those 6 games because I wouldn't buy the thing if it wasn't for the Bears.

And I'm moving to a new house, right down the street from a BW3.

The first step though is to call them and say I'm leaving. See what they do to try to keep me. Been a customer for 15 years.

can't always count on the bears to get that much national coverage

that said, yeah, when you tell them you're going to leave, they'll give you just about whatever you want to get you to reup.

Friend of mine, in Vegas stopped getting Sunday ticket because of this exact reason. He lives a few blocks from Green Valley Ranch so he just goes to the sports book on games that the Bears aren't shown locally. He doesn't gamble so he doesn't have to worry about losing money. And yes call Direct Tv, I called and told them Uverse was in the neighborhood and I set an appointment to switch, she said Direct Tv was superior(even though they are really the same company now). I said money was the difference, she said she would knock $25 off my bill, I still said that wasn't enough, she asked if she could give me anything complimentary to keep me as a loyal customer so I asked for Sunday Ticket and she gave it to me free. I am only a subscriber for 4 years.

Plus DTV used to hand out 3 month customer loyalty freebies for things like HBO and the Sports Package. That was a really nice extra that they stopped doing.

I remember when the NCAA Tourney was still just on CBS (and you were stuck with whatever they showed) but you could buy a package that let you see all the games. DTV gifted me that package (without me asking for it) and I thought it totally owned.

So Cubs Den ripped Telander for what he wrote last week and now Telander responded

http://www.chicagonow.com/cubs-den/2014/10/telander-responds-but-i-still-dont-agree/

So you should know that my distrust in the Cubs ``plan’’ does not mean—as some purple-veined radio creatures love to repeat—that I don’t UNDERSTAND the plan. I do.

Lol, I wonder who he could be talking about? :)

That was a pretty good repsonse by Telander. Can't remember a time I've ever seen a "journalist" go here:

Regular fans can easily know more than employed writers.

Yep.
