.294/.356/.531 in his 1124 games with the cubs. probably one of the most underrated players of the last decade when you consider his consistency

I always liked being able to pull out the old "How many third basemen have had a .900 OPS or higher for the past 4 seasons" trivia on people who kept talking about A-Rod and being the best 3B in baseball. I hated how he missed his 5th straight year by a couple points (.898). He had a .905 the following season. Would've been 6 consecutive .900+ OPS seasons for a third baseman, which... well, I don't recall the last 3B off the top of my head to do that. Let alone 5 seasons.

What a horrible trade that was for the Pirates. Cubs get one of the best players of the decade and a great CFer who was instrumental in a playoff run; meanwhile, Pirates get half a season of crap from Hernandez, two seasons of crap from Hill, and nothing from Bruback.

Probably Hendry's biggest coup as GM. I remember thinking we surely now have a fantastic GM if he can pull off that kind of stuff.

Imagine how much better her be if he ran out routine grounders

And was white

@thekapman

Barry Rozner's axe to grind with Ramirez is worse than anything we've seen with Kaplan. Guy is a fuckin clown and a half.

Rozner wrote a terrible article about Aramis's chicken fighting in the DR. I wrote back to Rozner and offered to take him out for a chicken sandwich then to a factory farm so we could see how well we treat our next meal. He sent me a real nasty email back.

I wish we would have resigned him, easily my favorite Cub.

Rozner still never misses a chance to slam him on that stupid weekend radio show of his.

Yeah. When he fills in on the Score, too. Any mention of him will elicit that garbage.

I'm still surprised Bobby Hill ended up not having much of a career. I thought for sure he'd be a solid starter.

He developed a bad back.

Just reminds me that soon its going to be the 10 year anniversary of the Cubs last playoff win (Oct 11)

Is that the day we have the mass heroin in forehead party?

I'll never forget taking my wife (then GF) to Wrigley for the first time and seeing Bobby Hill and Todd Wellemeyer on the train after the game. Me and 1 other dude were the only ones in our area that knew who they were and people were talking trash about the Cubs around them. At their stop, Hill came up, smiled, and shook my hand.

One of the most vocal dudes was like, "who was that?". And I told him that was Bobby Hill with Todd Wellemeyer in the seat behind him. He tried to take off the train after them but it was too late.
