Barney is horrible. 4-40 this month and I don't care how good his defense is. It can't make up for how bad he's been at the plate. Would love to see Alacantra replace him.

Barney's mustered a whopping 0.3/0.4 WAR this year, so I don't think anyone would miss him.

Looking at Barney statistically year over year, I'm not seeing an obvious reason why his BABIP is so incredibly low(50-75 points lower than it should be). There's little reason to get rid of him, but it'd be nice if he could show this first half was a fluke of BABIP/injury misfortune, if only so they can rely on him to hold down 2B for one more year until they have a legit option in Alcantara.

Alcantara isn't ready. There's no point in promoting a really good prospect before he's ready just because a big leaguer is slumping.

Oh, he requested Rondon but I keep forgetting to do it. I'll do it later today, but sadly for him, he'll be stuck with that name for some time. The Cubs haven't come this far to return Rondon.

Watkins has a .757 OPS and a 21.4% K-rate in the PCL. There's no way he gets an MLB job next year unless he suddenly shows a lot more offensive talent than he has to date.
