Maybe the Cubs will get a big enough lead that Sveum will actually use Henry Rodriguez or Brooks Raley instead of Parker and Russell for the 18th straight game.

It was a nice dream

I was at Friday night's Angels' game. Absolutely no one there likes Hamilton and his 0.5 fWAR with his contract either. CJ Wilson's contract is a big fat anchor too.

But as long as Trout keeps putting up 10 WAR seasons on a minor league contract...

How is Wilson's contract a big fat anchor?

Hot streak Soriano is like the most fun player in baseball

No [expletive]! 8 HR, 17 RBI and hitting .400 in the last 11. Too bad it doesn't happen as often as it used to.

I'm completely fine with keeping Soriano for the rest of his contract if we can't get a top 50-75 prospect for him (assuming we eat some contract).

it really is; i'll never understand how you just flip a switch from replacement-level scrub to mvp like he does

Yeah, I hadn't really put a number on it like that in my mind, but he's one of the few guys with power we have and the money is already spent. He's not blocking anybody, so unless you get somebody worthwhile back, there's no point in sending him off just to get rid of him.

He had a 3.6 fWAR last year and 32 HR...

Right, but there's a lot fewer other hits sprinkled into the hot streaks and they don't last as long. .821 OPS as opposed to the .875-.900 he'd put up in his really good seasons.
