I'm kind of wondering where Bryant winds up. Raisin broke it down pretty well, but I gotta think its likely he sees Daytona this year, if he signs relatively early.

I hope he signs quickly. I hate it when position prospects waste several months of development time. Is Boras his agent?

Yes.

Well that's that.

Los Angeleeeze.

Mildly surprised with the Chris Anderson pick. He's got a very good ceiling, but this seemed just a smidge high.

Previously drafted by Cubs

Yep - 35th rounder in 2010. Projected first rounder Eric Jagielo (Notre Dame 3B) was a 50th round pick by the Cubs the same year.

Gonzales was a guy I had hoped would fall to us at 41. Didn't think it would happen, but this seems like its a tad high for him anyway.

Well, with a 2nd 1st rounder, they may be playing a game of cat and mouse here. Wonder if St. Louis could pop Manaea late first.

That said, Gonzalez is a very solid arm. Off the top, they don't have a lot of left handed pitching.

I prefer Alex to Marco.

That said, I wouldn't be shocked if Marco beats Appel to the big leagues.

Different regimes, but I don't recall the Cubs having much difficulty with Boras clients in the past. Am I wrong in this?

Nope.

Pawelek signed on draft day back in 2005.

Bryant did a brief radio interview with MLB on Sirius/XM with Dan Duquet and Jim Bodden. He said all the right things. He didn't know until after he was drafted who was going to take him. He said he doesn't read stuff on the internet and deflected a question about pre-draft contact. He said he focused on cutting down the strikeouts this year. Talked about widening his stance. Said he was happy to be a Cub and that he's excited for the challenge. It could be my man crush, but he sounded like he has a real good attitude. He said something about all he can ask for is a chance to compete.

I'm with Rob, if the between pick filler is going to primarily be Harold Reynolds waxing moronic, they should just pare down the time to two minutes or so. At this rate the first night will be as insufferable as that of the NFL draft.

lmao that dude took one look at selig's kidney spot stained hands and recoiled in horror like someone was asking him to hug his naked grandpa

Bwahaha! Well done.

Am I the only one who thought this was funny?

Stanek and Clarkin are falling.

What's the reason for Stanek falling so much?

He struggled early in the year. I kind of quit following him once it was apparent he had fallen off our radar. That said, I think he rebounded pretty well late.

I really hope Clarkin falls to us. Doubt it.

I really am not big on Jon Crawford. Stuff's nice, but he reminds me too much of a guy like Jake Arrieta.

Still, I can understand a team there deciding to take the gamble.

Weren't there some mechanical questions with Stanek? I might be thinking of someone else, but I thought some publication/draft guy said that they didn't love Stanek's delivery.

I'd love it if he could get to our pick, but it seems unlikely. Guessing St. Louis or the Yankees take him if he falls that far.

Harold's talking about Moneyball.

moneyball was all about college.

I wonder what happens if an intriguing college bat falls. Unless I'm mistaken, Ervin/Wilson/Judge are all on the board. Guessing they'd still go pitching, but there seems like an outside chance one of them might slip to our area.
