I was just thumbing through the top 20 of various potential buyers, and the Yankees' #20 is a 22 year old A Ball SP named Rafael De Paula who was first signed in 2008 but served a 1 year suspension to to identity issues.

Anyway, his 2013 line in 59IP 2.43 ERA, 0.98 WHIP, 22/90 BB/K. Want!

He's at least 22 and in A-ball... not sure how excited to be about that...

And that suspension explains why he's a year behind. But mostly, the BB/K's are a special kind of sick.

The stuff matches those peripherals. He's what we hope Paniagua will become if he is ever allowed to enter the US.

Badler has raved about De Paula on twitter all year.

took another look at some low A rosters and realized 22 wasn't so old for the level and wasn't considering the time off as well... my post was clearly wrong.

I wonder if they would trade him. Maybe we could get him in a package with a few more of their top 20 for Garza and a spare part or two. Yankees are clearly in win 5 years ago mode, yet are still on top in the AL WC. However, their roster is built so that any or all of their starters could hit the DL if somebody looks at them the wrong way.

Yeah maybe Garza and Dejesus or Barney would be a package they'd like? Though I'm kind of leaning towards wanting to keep Garza.

Like Raisin said, DePaula is their version of Paniagua. Difference being that their version is over here and dominating now. He's getting rave reviews and is extremely likely to be a top 100 prospect now. They could move him to AA at some point this season and he could contribute in 2014. They're not as good as their record, in my opinion and it wouldn't surprise me if they stand pat at the deadline. He's just about their only healthy true pitching prospect too, my guess is he's not going anywhere. May have a better shot at prying away Gary Sanchez from them for Garza, in my opinion. If they make a big move.

ABTY:

KC all over Cubs games... They've targeted Feldman and DeJesus as the two potential upgrades that fit best (monetarily along with prospect cost)...

I'm already rooting for them to bounce back, if I were you guys I'd do the same... Nothing better for a seller than a desperate, possibly on the hot seat GM aggressively buying...

Keep in mind that I'm pretty sure that his primary contacts are KC guys.

The Royals have a lot of intriguing guys hanging around the high minors and MLB and a GM that's both fighting for his job and likely has very different evaluations of many players.

Can't wait for a trade like Feldman/DeJesus/Gregg for Duffy/Herrera/Mariot and Rany Jazayerli finds a way to write a scathing blog post while melting like he's just seen the arc of the covenant.

Between Ventura, Almonte, Smith, and Brickhouse(Ventura may be a pipe dream).....They've definitely got excellent pitching to deal from. Herrera would be a great add on type piece as well. Doubt we could get Duffy, but with Moore, I guess it shouldn't be discounted.

That's correct, ABTY might even work for them himself in a non FO type position (like marketing or something) and he has the contacts through that job. I also could be completely wrong on that second part.

FWIW, ABTY just posted that he's hearing the Royals may want both Feldman and Villanueva in the same deal.

Pipedream of the day is now something like:

Feldman/Villanueva/Gregg for Duffy and Herrera

Garza and DeJesus for Skaggs and a low level prospect

Next year's rotation: Shark/Jackson/Duffy/Wood/Skaggs (make the exact order whatever you like)

With Herrera, Russell, Vizcaino in the back of the pen.

Depending on the severity of the injury, I think this increases the chances Schierholtz is dealt. If he is, then we can exercise DeJesus' option of 6.5. At any rate, I suspect one or the other will be dealt.
