RT @CarrieMuskat: Word out of NY: DeJesus out with sprained right shoulder. #Cubs. Expected to go on DL

I'd be pretty happy if that's all it is, given how it looked on TV.

ABTY says the Royals are interested in a trade for both Feldman and Villanueva

Ventura please

it'd have to be something reasonably good to include villenueva, given that he's got a very team-friendly contract for next season as well.

If there's any way to get them to agree to Zimmer/Ventura and Cam Gallagher. I'd be a very happy man. Send some prospects back. Include an OFer. Whatever it takes. Git 'er done.

Doesn't ABTY's source supposedly work for the Royals?

No way they give up on Zimmer this early.

Yes it's at least one of their scouts, but might be a couple of them.

And when he said both, he means a trade for the 2 of them together not a trade for 1. If there was/is any confusion.

More ABTY stuff in response to a "don't look now but the Royals are heating up" post

As long as they stay around .500, they'll be buyers in a big way... It's likely a Feldman/DeJesus/Ransom type package is what they'll look for (this is actually what I'm in favor of as well- Feldman is a major upgrade in the back of the rotation, even if he reverts, DeJesus is the perfect bat for the top of that line-up while Ransom would provide a plus platoon partner for Mostakas while he continues to figure it out) however I've heard Feldman and Villanueva and more interestingly, if they have a major surge I'm hearing to not count them out going all-in and grabbing a guy James Shields is pushing hard for the FO to obtain in Matt Garza...

Dayton Moore is as all in on this season as any GM in baseball has been for quite some time... Everyone not on the MLB roster (and a few who are) is available, including struggling but über talent Bubba Starling and also struggling but also über talented Kyle Zimmer... If I'm the Superfriends, I'm drooling at the fact that they potentially match up so well with a low budget team that's all in like this... Even moreso when you consider so many of the Royals once top 3 farm system talents are struggling this year and in all likelihood the selling organization will be able to grab multiple guys that maybe even a year ago you'd do backflips to land one of...

Wouldn't mind getting a competitive balance and/or international FA money (that can be traded, right?) from them on top of prospects.

I'm super low on Starling (which I understand is why he'd even be available possibly). Hard to get excited about a guy who is striking out 30% of the time between R and low A.

I am too. Zimmer, on the other hand, is quite interesting despite his struggles. While the ERA is ugly, he's racking up the strikeouts and his stuff is just as good.

Yeah. Pretty much how I feel.

That said, maybe if Starling gets his eyesight problems fixed, he might turn it around.

If we could get Bubba Starling or Kyle Zimmer for a reclamation who we initially expected to be a somewhat productive 5 starter or a swing man, a 37 year old jalopy, and a free agent to be, I'll be ecstatic. If we could somehow get both Starling and Zimmer for said package I'll be; well, I don't think there's a word for it. As unlikely as it is, if we were to replace Feldman with Garza, it could be realistic. Might not be the monster package that we all expected in return for Garza last year, but at this point I'll take it and run, especially if an extension isn't in the cards.

IFA cap space can be traded starting 7/2.

From what I've read, the swing is really messed up and the eye problems probably won't be enough.

Would you guys rather have Starling or a competitive balance round A pick (somewhere in the 34-40 selection overall) and the extra pool money?

I'd take Starling as a toss in guy at this point and not any more. Zimmer is intriguing but I don't want the headline to any package to be below AA(never mind struggling with performance below AA). Go get Duffy.

flipping Feldman & Ransom for Duffy a year after flipping Maholm & Reed Johnson for Vizcaino would give me weird déjà vu euphoria

The only plus is that Duffy is at least pitching in his rehab already. I'd like to see him make a couple of decent starts at AAA first, though.

Easily the draft pick in that scenario.

Really? Obviously, you know a lot more about these things than I do, but I can't imagine that a 20 year old who was viewed as one of the top young commodities not to long ago could have fallen far enough that a lottery ticket would be a more desireable option.

Believe. I have more hopes for Geiger than Starling.

Even with this in mind, if he were the centerpiece in a package for DeJesus and Feldman, I can't imagine that Theo would pass it up.

Even accepting he's worse than Dustin Geiger, you'd take him back as a centerpiece for 2 of our most tradable assets. Bukie, you're needed here.
