FYI on the broadcast they clarified that Castillo struck out, he was not struck by lightning.

Maybe if he got struck by lightning, it would imbue him with either the power to be a useful defensive catcher or to put up an acceptable offensive line that doesn't depend on a .380 BABIP.

Or maybe both? Does lightning strike the same place twice? I feel like that might be a thing, but I can't recall.

This is just emotion and frustration talking, but I'm starting to really not like Starlin.

Were you saying that five days ago?

Probably.

This team is just wearisome in how tedious it is. I can't even muster the energy to be mad; what's the point?

Samardzija can't get a called strike to save his life today, that's like a half dozen I've noticed in less than 3 IP.

I refuse to give up just yet. I know it's gambler's fallacy, but we are owed a hot streak at this point.

Why? The starting pitching is great, but everything else is deeply flawed. Rizzo is basically the only long term bright spot that's not taking the mound every five days. It's frustrating how far off things seem.

Not as much, which is why I'm hoping it's just frustration. However, I'm scared that I've been trying to deny what my eyes have been seeing for a while now because I want so much for Starlin to be a star. However, I've become more and more annoyed with his at bats and no longer want to use his age as an excuse. The dude could reach another level, but his approach at that plate simply won't allow him to at this point.

Again, I hope I'm just speaking out of emotion because he's annoying the hell out of me.

Because our pythagorean wins say we should be .500. And BP's third-order wins keeps insisting that we're even better.

The starting pitching is good, the offense should be OK if the platoons keep working, and the bullpen just can't be as bad as it's performed (and had a special knack for being bad in exactly the wrong, concentrated way).

I think I can keep the delusion up at least through the draft.

It's worrying me, too. It's especially compounded with how so many key parts in the minors seem to be struggling with similar issues, too.

Good luck. I think the top of the 3rd finally broke something inside of me.
