I'm extremely frustrated by Castro, but let's try and keep in mind that he is seeing more pitchers per plate appearance and he does seem to be driving some pitches in his wheelhouse lately. In the last week alone he's probably hit 5-6 balls to the warning track.

It's worrying me, too. It's especially compounded with how so many key parts in the minors seem to be struggling with similar issues, too.

The OBP/BB problem?

Most of the problems are the legacy players, and we seem to be using those because Epstein focused most of his budget on pitching. It makes sense, even though it's annoying.

The WTP is legit.

His Oswing and Zswing percentages microscopically above his career averages. If he's going deeper into counts, it's probably because his Swinging Strike percentage is up to 9.7% compared to a career of 7.6%

Making sense doesn't really make it all that less frustrating; it just means the Cubs are potentially boned when it comes to internal contributions in the short run on both sides of the plate. It's all of that combined with just bad, bad timing; they couldn't capitalize on any kind of draft advantage. They might be missing the window when it comes to these big TV deals. All of the nonsense with the renovations. There's just so many hurdles to overcome.

I'm not ranting about this like I'm angry or anything; I just feel tired all of sudden following this.

This is just emotion and frustration talking, but I'm starting to really not like Starlin.

Were you saying that five days ago?

Not as much, which is why I'm hoping it's just frustration. However, I'm scared that I've been trying to deny what my eyes have been seeing for a while now because I want so much for Starlin to be a star. However, I've become more and more annoyed with his at bats and no longer want to use his age as an excuse. The dude could reach another level, but his approach at that plate simply won't allow him to at this point.

Again, I hope I'm just speaking out of emotion because he's annoying the hell out of me.

I understand. This is a game thread; frustration and emotion is fine here. I just think not liking him is taking it a bit far. It's easier to say all of that when he's in a 1/16 stretch. If that GD wind at Wrigley wasn't blowing in all of the time, his numbers would look quite a bit better. I won't show too much anger towards the youngest player on the roster just yet.

Also FAs are getting nerfed by a variety of factors, so our financial advantage doesn't mean as much. And the Cardinals are more or less set up to win 1100 games in the next decade.

Yup. I do agree.

I think I went to my keyboard in anger after he struck out on a horrible pitch and then got mad at himself, and in turn I got mad at him because I'm always seeing him get mad at himself for taking stupid swings but then he never does anything about it.

Rant over now, though. Promise.

i've found apathy to be much more healthy.

Well, I've never really gotten worked up over this team in that way; this just feels more like I just don't care to the point that I don't even really want to follow the team at all. Baseball in general just doesn't seem to hold my interest as much.

Count me as concerned. We can't have you not liking baseball. Here's to hoping you are just having a bad/below average day and the Cubs just annoyed you, too.

You are my favorite poster, damn it. Don't ever think about leaving or not loving the Cubs.
