How did Garza look?

Pretty good; touched 92-93 seemingly pretty regularly, had decent movement/command and managed the inside of the plate pretty well. Ran into some full counts more than you'd like, but struck out (I think) 6 and took a no-no into the 5th. All in all he looked good, plus he hit a 2-RBI double.

MT @DannyKnoblerCBS: Cubs have to be thrilled with Garza tonight. Asked scout there if he was as good as the numbers: "Yes. 3 plus pitches."

Shades of Mike Quade with Sveum's use of Russell tonight.

Granted, Shawn Camp and Hector Rondon were largely responsible for taking a big, steaming [expletive] in Cubs fans and Matt Garza's cornflakes last night, but the 1/9 BB/K from Cubs hitters is far more disturbing. Camp can be cut anytime, and if nothing else, he'll be gone next season. The pen can be revamped if necessary. However the lack of plate discipline is something that plagues the entire organization from top to bottom.

You know, of all the new "friendly rivalries" I've made with friends since coming out East, the Cubs/Pirates one was the only one where they seemingly dominated, but have since become the dominated.

I do not like this.
