Also, is it just me or is Geiger having a surprisingly solid year?

It's nice that he's matched his Peoria performance, but considering that he's a 1B now(and not a particularly good one), it's hard to get too excited.

Dude looked like he was wearing concrete boots when I saw him playing 3rd in Peoria last year. Even the balls he got to he didn't handle very smoothly. For all the worry about Vogelbach's fielding ability, I have to think he's a better athlete in general than Geiger and his hands sound like they're softer too.

I feel like I haven't seen Brett in the lineup lately. Is he hurt again?

Also, have there been any early reports on how Vitters has looked so far?

I think they finally DLd Brett due to the foot thing that had been bothering him.

Yeah, he was DLed for his turf toe.

Baez flew out to right and Soler walked in the 8th.

The Baez concern is causing me some serious inability to get a Soler-boner.

You have to make room for multiple boners, doom or boom.

What was that quote that one of the Cubs front office guys had about Baez when he scouted him in high school? Something like "I don't know if this guy is going to be Manny Ramirez or not make it past AA."

Baez singles to LF and Soler flies out to CF in the 10th.

No Stewart in Iowa's lineup today.

I'm guessing they have washed their hands of him but can't release him immediately or risk a grievance.

I'm inclined to agree with you but what grievance could he file? He's no longer injured.

I could easily imagine the Player's Association having a problem with them releasing him immediately after he took the 72 hours he was technically allowed by the CBA.

His $2M is guaranteed whether he plays or not. Releasing him could end up netting him more money if he signs elsewhere.

Kyuji gave up a hit in his second inning of work, but picked the guy off first base.

His salary would be deducted from the 2M the Cubs owe him.

All three strikeouts were of the swinging variety.

I hope the struggles convince him to refine his approach.

And that he's capable of doing so.

How realistic is this?

Don't know, really. One of those things we'll have to wait out.

Yep. They didn't even put him in as a pinch hitter last night.

He's being treated for cuts and scrapes sustained while attacking a tree which he thought resembled Luis Valbuena.

Torreyes contact rate is 94.7%. He's swung and missed 5 times this season.

That is just ridiculous.

Didn't Castro used to not swing and miss much! I remember Len and Bob early on saying that.

Maybe he was just thirsty.
