From Law's chat today:

Mark (Chicago)

As a Cubs fan looking strictly at statistics, CJ Edwards looks astonishing, but it's A ball and he was a late draft pick. Where does his true future potential lie?

Klaw (2:05 PM)

Big arm, loose, good CB, above avg fastball, athletic, just a good late pick of a HS arm with upside. Potential #2-3 starter.

Asking For A Friend (IL)

Who do you think the PTBNL are in the Cubs/Rangers deal?

Klaw (2:15 PM)

Neil Ramirez, if healthy, etc.

Mark (Chicago)

Grimm was regarded highly at one point but has stunk in the majors. Do you see him as a mid-rotation guy or worse?

Klaw (2:00 PM)

Reliever. Two-pitch guy with poor command.

Not sure if there was any Cubs related mention (besides the thing about how the Mets should be able to get a prospect for Byrd if the Cubs got one for Hairston) that I might've missed, but if so, please add.

Daytona Cubs ‏@daytonacubs 9m

C.J. Edwards has been added to Daytona's roster and is scheduled to make his Cubs debut on Sunday at 5 in Palm Beach. Ivan Pineyro tonight.

Mike (Normal): If Mike Olt were brought to Chicago today and were allowed to play every day at 3B for the rest of the year, what's your best guess on what his slash line would look like?

Jason Parks: .220/.300/.325

I liked Parks when he liked our current prospects more than anybody else. Now I don't like him and like Law because he likes the guys we traded for more.

Law likes Olt? That surprises me.

Thinks he can be a regular in the Major Leagues right now thanks to his defense, patience and power. Heard him talk about it on the radio the other day after the trade.

His first ratings on him were high, so therefore he can't back down and adjust from there

Here's what he said in his write up about the trade:

Olt's year has been derailed by vision problems that forced him to miss most of May, but prior to that the 24-year-old projected as an above-average everyday third baseman who added a ton of value on defense and hit for power with a low contact rate and modest OBP. Since coming off the DL in Triple-A, he's hitting .247/.353/.506, with 57 strikeouts in 186 plate appearances, a decent facsimile of what I expect from him in the majors, perhaps with slightly more contact when his vision is 100 percent again.

He's turned himself into a plus defender at third -- he was a bad defensive shortstop at UConn -- and the raw power is probably grade-70 on the 20-80 scouting scale, so if he can hit enough to get to that power, he has 25-30 homer potential. He's no Gary Scott, but Cub fans should be pleased.

I think most of us will be happy if he is Aramis Ramirez, especially Dave Kaplan.

I have no idea what reference you're trying to make by bringing up Aramis, because that description is not Aramis.

I know that Gary Scott sucked, so I'm really making a joke about how Kaplan wrote about Aramis constantly.

it actually makes perfect sense. before the trade was official, most cobs fans were hating on olt big time, so naturally law says they're wrong and dumb.

Not sure where to put this but Mayo updated his top 100 and all the team's top 20.

This was Mayo's top 10 for the Cubs in 2011 after we traded for Rizzo:

Well, it was dumb of them not to include Baez.
