I wonder what is too early to draft Kris Bryant in fantasy drafts this year.

his ADP is 148th, but his ZiPS isn't really much different than Donaldson (ADP: 21), so it really boils down to how much you want to ensure getting him

Bryant vs. Donaldson

82/26/91/ 7/.265 (147 G)

91/29/96/10/.256 (132 G)

Sneaky, I seem to remember you not being as high on Bryant as others in the past, for K reasons (goes along with your general view on strikeouts, see: sneaky talking about Javier Baez). Have you changed your mind on him at all, and do you still think Soler will be the better of the two?

ETA: I agree with you on K's btw, wasn't saying I thought they don't matter, but I think there's a point when production is so good that the K's can be overcome, like what Bryant has done since becoming a pro.

Mauricio Rubio of BP's fantasy podcast said he'd draft him at around ~60

I'm pretty sure it kept up after Bonifacio got traded, although Valbuena was another big proponent(he was the first one I ever saw do it) so maybe it really will die out.

Ask top prospect Kris Bryant about his swing, and he’ll tell you something you may have never heard before. You’ll probably also have to ask a few knowledgable people to help explain what he means.

After talking to Bryant in Spring Training last week, I asked FanGraphs prospect maven Kiley McDaniel, professional hitting consultant Dan Farnsworth, and prospect video guru Steve Fiorindo of the Prospect Pipeline to comment on the things Bryant said about his own swing. It’s an analysis of a self-analysis, if you will, with some of the moving images below provided by Carson Cistulli.

i guess i worry with it far less with Bryant because he has such a superior grasp of the strike zone it really mitigates those concerns- he'll force pitchers back into the zone...but assuming no improvements for contact, he's what, Chris Carter (.222/.313/.459) at 3B? that's still about a 2.5-3 WAR player

picking Soler vs. Bryant, probably a dead heat since i still expect Bryant to end up in the OF sooner rather than later but Soler has more durability concerns
