I can't believe I had missed the sky point on the walk. Is it wrong that I want John Baker back now?

I'm pretty sure that was my favorite moment of the entire season that wasn't a Colorado Javybomb.

what about st louis soler bombs

you're crazy if that wasn't the high point. that or soler homering on the first MLB pitch he ever saw.

john baker seems like a genuinely funny person and great teammate. shame he isn't better at baseball.

I have a feeling the former is nearly 100% of the reason he was put on the roster of a team that was going to lose a lot and had a bunch of young guys. It really is a shame he's not better at baseball, because he's the perfect guy to have around on a playoff team to keep them from getting too tight like the '07 and '08 teams.

First swing he took. He took a couple pitches before that.

My favorite moment was Javy's 3rd game when he homered twice. Second is probably Javy's game winning bomb in his debut. Soler's game in St. Louis was probably #3 for me.

I was expecting Soler to be really good right away, but even though it was in Colorado vs crappy pitching, I got my hopes up a little that we were going to see an abbreviated adjustment period from Javy when he left with 3 bombs and like a 20% K rate or whatever it was. Deep down I knew better, but I was pretty excited. I want to say he then K'd 4 times the next day against Archer.

I don't care what Donaldson has become the Harden deal was still a great deal for the Cubs.

Hindsight is 20/20 but the Cubs could have won the division and gotten swept in the playoffs with Gallagher instead of Harden.

Then traded Donaldson in the offseason for a middle reliever and we're still in 2014 wondering what could have been, but without the memory of those awesome Harden starts.

Now you're making me think of the Harrison/Grabow trade. :(

Is that an ad for Sapporo on the Budweiser/Horseshoe/United building??

Don't think I've ever seen that. Looks like late 80s/early 90s. Figured it was Budweiser throughout that entire era.

EDIT - BTW, there are a lot of pics of Wrigley from the 70's through 2006 in that gallery. Some interesting, some not so much.

it was in 08 mf'er

If you project Harden's 08 WAR to CC's IP (253), he would be higher (7.7 vs. 7.2) but the fact that CC was a workhorse, and Harden would often struggle to go 6 innings in a game (only 4/13 starts with over 6 IP with the Cubs vs. 14/18 starts with over 6 IP for CC with Brewers), it swings the balance in Sabathia's favor.

They were traded one day apart from each other. Harden threw 71 innings for the Cubs while CC threw 130 2/3 for the Brewers. Amazing.
