Haha, I know there are a lot of examples like this out there on the internet, but the reddit people are usually fairly rational.

Ugh, but the Cubs subreddit is awful.

I laughed and wondered if Kyle would be a part of that before I clicked the link...

The Cubs go to Coors the second series after the deadline. Wouldn't mind seeing Javy hit in that place.

I think it'd be really fun to watch Javy Baez take 3 hacks against Aroldis Chapman.

It'd be more fun for Chapman to throw one near his head and have Javy tackle him Farnsworth-style.

Isn't Chapman a boxer too?

Javy wouldn't care

Haugh and Kaplan on there radio show discussing a move for David Price.

Haugh was pretending he was Theo talking to Andrew Friedman then pretended he was Theo talking to Hoyer an Hoyer responding to Theo like they were three muppets...

Anyways, I actually agreed with their thought process for the most part saying they wouldn't want to trade Kris Bryant for Price.

But, then Haugh said I don't want to move Soler for Price (I agree), said he would not move Almora for Price (If Almora is the centerpiece in a price trade I'd drive him to the airport right now), said he would think about moving Baez for Price (absolutely disagree).

I could why some would want to move Baez for Price (even though I wouldn't) but I cant believe Haugh would rather move Baez for Price than Albert Almora...

Am I a jerk for thinking this is so egregious of Haugh to want to keep Almora over Baez? I could see take it easy on a random fan who likes Almora but Haugh is getting paid to do this!

I could see a misguided sycophant latching on to the notion that Almora was Theo/Jed/McCleod's first love and that Baez was a carry over and therefore not their guy. Add in all the character attributes accorded to each and it makes sense, for an idiot like Haugh.

It's a pointless exercise, because the Cubs are not trading for Price. At the price he'd command right now I wouldn't want to.

I mean, you can maybe make sense of the idea that Baez + X gets Price while Almora + Y gets price and Y >>> X so that's why you trade Baez, but that's too much thought put into trying to justify the thoughts of Kap and Haugh.

Pretty much this. You could also justify it by being worried about Javy's K rates, but that would ignore the drastic improvements he's made on that front.

i totally get the SSS aspect and especially with defensive value but it's still crazy to me to look at alcantara's line so far and think that that's a 6+ WAR pace.

i mean, i get it, but it's still weird to me

Kyle is everywhere, do not defy the Kyle! But the question the guy asked really irked me. I mean he/she is not even a baseball fan. I never understood people that have this sort of mild passing sense of interest. To me you are either a ******* diehard and you KNOW your team or you are not a fan of all. None of this "umm, which team should I root for?" ****.

Well then. I don't agree with that either. But that is a case of a diehard fan heartbroken. This guy asking the question on reddit sounds like he doesn't even care what team he roots for.

it's pretty arguable whether it's more justifiable to be heartbroken after a 97 win season that ends in playoff disappointment or like 5 straight years of terribleness

hahaha, +37 per 150 at 2B and +19 in CF, that's pretty good I guess. Don't forget that extrapolated line would also mean ~40 steals at 100% effectiveness too.

I think you're the first person that I've heard of or seen that has admitted to listening to that show. I'm not quite sure who's worse between the two of them.
