Why is this amazing game so filled with sadness. WHY?

Joe Morgan: "With arm problems, you can never predict a pitcher's career."

It's insane even just to compare the rosters of these two teams to see how they could not possibly be more different in terms of success and disaster.

OH GOD, THEY WERE SHOWING A SHOT OF WOOD WHEN HE SAID THAT.

if it wasn't clear, i made it to the bottom of the first before deciding this was too painful.

also, corey patterson's swing was somehow even loopier than i remembered. ugh. i don't understand how he hit .050.

It gets good at the end. It's the one where the Cubs almost blow it, the Yankees get it to 8-7 and get a pinch runner picked off first to end the game.

I do not understand how Joe Borowski ever retired an MLB hitter.

It's bonkers; it's this crazy, loopy thing that practically has a gully in the middle of it. HOW THE [expletive] DID ANYBODY THINK THAT WAS A GOOD THING.

Mark Prior alone overwhelms me with feelings of longing and despair.

crazy that it's essentially just a decade old but the onscreen graphics looks like they might as well be from 1985

i loved that they were all like "man sammy has sucked this year maybe he will start being good soon" and then they put his numbers up and he's hitting like .288 with a .415 obp.

His stuff looks exactly as I remember it. Actually his breaking ball looked even nastier than I had remembered.

Just reading the posts before this and without clicking the YouTube link, I knew what game this was.

Sigh.

Also...ditto to everything everyone else has said.

I was going to click that link, but then I thought it might be more enjoyable to stuff a rabid badger in my pants.

There will be a day that I relive those games. This is not that day.
