Yes, Sappelt stinks, but isn't he playing CF? I don't think we want Schierholtz manning that spot.

I get that. It's not like Hairston is killing it either. Guys, all I'm saying is it would hurt absolutely nothing to let him play vs a lefty or 2. I just wanna see if we have a guy that could maybe play every day down the road.

I get that, but this far into his career it's unlikely he's a diamond in the rough. You want to try and get the other guys going so they can contribute, and sitting them isn't going to help that.

Probably so, but I'd just like to see them take a chance. Like I said, it can't hurt anything. This team doesn't look like it's gonna be any better than last year, so I'm fine with rolling the dice a little.

Well, even if it's a bust of a year you want to get guys like Hairston going so you can ideally trade them. Schierholtz will have plenty of value if he can continue to be serviceable in his half of the platoon.

Gameday is absolutely drunk tonight. No idea what it's doing.

mlb.tv and espn's fantasy baseball tracker both just crapped out on me

True, that definitely makes sense. It certainly looks like it'll be another year of trying to trade 75% of them at the deadline.

Speaking of which, I have heard nothing about Garza??

Maybe if Sappelt hurled himself into the wall head-first at full speed and possibly killed himself, but probably not.

For some reason reading this made me laugh really hard

He starts his rehab on Friday.

First rehab start on Friday.

Also-

6. Matt Garza, RHP, Cubs — By mid-May, Garza should be in the rotation after recovering from recurring problems with his left side, which he strained in spring training after recovering from elbow soreness. After Garza makes a few starts and shows he’s healthy, he should begin to garner interest from contenders. He’s already on a few teams’ wish lists.

Damn.

Not a huge hockey fan but I thought the first one was pretty cool.

Went to the college classic at Soldier Field, and that one was fairly cool, but the environment was more frat, less fan.

It'd be cool if Travis Wood emerged as a solid #3 who ended up as our #5 or something when we're good.

I've still got a lot of faith in him. He's going to stick in the rotation for as long as we want him.

Meanwhile, could we hit some more fly balls? Great night for it.

What a craptacularly boring game this has been. Hopefully Holland starts wearing down next inning. Just south of 100 pitches now.

Starlin is going to walk like 2 times in the first half only to tease us into thinking he has progressed by being better at it in the last couple months again.

If the power is there, I can live with that.

Somebody needs to tell Dale about Valbuena's reverse split.

Me too, but I'd rather see him show more signs of future superstar.
