Smart had already fallen in the front row when the fan started talking, this wasn't a Ron Artest running into the stands situation. If more of those athletes were 6" from the fan saying the racial slur, they'd have done what Marcus Smart did or worse.

 

Why is the burden of self control on the 19-year old and not the 50-year old bigot? I mean, sure, it would have been helpful for his team if he didn't shove the guy, but his reaction wasn't ridiculous or out of line and I wouldn't consider it douche-like.

I dunno, I hear a lot more, "I paid for my ticket, I can do what I want" nonsense now than I ever recall hearing when I was younger. Maybe was just less aware or it received less coverage or blah blah blah. Either way, whether it's gotten worse or not isn't really the point. The point it that buying a ticket isn't a free pass to comport yourself like a p.o.s. Unfortunately, a lot of fans don't feel that way.
