Tyler Ulis took his visits to MSU and Kentucky this weekend and now will be deciding between those two and Iowa within a week.

 

would be a huge get for iowa

UPDATE: Jordan McLaughlin, who was basically waiting to commit to UCLA when Alford was hired just committed to USC. On the heels of Josh Perkins committing to Gonzaga (who also was once a UCLA lean). Can't wait for UCLA to whiff on Quentin Snider and have to start Alford's son at point guard.

I can't see him going to Kentucky. I mean he realizes that would be foolish, right?

 

Everyone is now predicting that he'll go to Kentucky. A few writers think it's either Iowa or Kentucky.

 

Obviously if you want to win a national championship, go to Kentucky. Otherwise, it makes more sense in almost every other way for him to go to Iowa. If he goes to UK he's going to get recruited over by elite PG's that are 5 inches taller and probably end up transferring by his junior year. The NBA stuff is nonsense in his case. Being 5'8 is going to be the roadblock regardless. His only chance is to go to a decent team where he can play a huge role for 4 years.

 

Him and his dad kept talking throughout the process about how the relationship with coaches and trust would be most important. They love Fran and in 90% of the interviews praised him for seeing what he could do before other high-majors and said they would always remember who was there from the beginning and that would play a big role. Then Cal comes rolling in at the last minute after he blows up and loses out on top targets and apparently will get him.

Snider to announce his decision tonight. Since that news broke a half hour ago, six people have switched their Crystal Ball Predictions to Illinois. Up to 74% for Illinois. Ok, now I'll allow myself to be excited.

God damn John Groce is amazing. If he lands this guy that's two top 40s from out of state in one year. Before that I think you have to go back to the early 80s for Illinois to pull that.

Callipari, Izzo, Coach K and Roy Williams? (assuming you aren't trading to get Bill Self back)

Roy is just too old for me to want to have him take Groce's spot same with K. I'm not saying Groce is the fourth or fifth best coach in America, I just think he's the perfect fit for our program right now.

That Shaka Smart guy is pretty good

He is, but I'm not sure he could have done better at reloading our roster than Groce has. I think Groce was the right time, right place hire that we lucked into.

It's been known for a few weeks that McLaughlin would pick USC.
