Soler BB.

*swoon*. No. 1 prospect in the system by the end of the year.

I can see that scenario playing out.

Hey now, I predicted that about a month ago.

Me too. Top 15 in the game after this year. And he'll spend significant time in AA this year.

I agree with Parks-Baez will be a top 5 guy next year. I think Soler is 15-20ish. Almora 25-30ish, and whether its Appel or Gray, they're top 30 as well.

Baez is just too volatile to try to predict. I could see him being top-5 and I could see him losing ground.

Yep, and to be honest, I think the latter is significantly more likely.

Don't know any details but its interesting that Soler failed to score on a single from 2nd nor on a double from 1st in today's game. He's supposedly is pretty fast.

Is Soler a guy who for sure can't be up in the Majors in 2014?

A 2014 second-half call-up would be the absolute best case scenario.

Thanks.

I've been wondering if he's more advanced than people thought. Being in the Majors at 22 wouldn't be unreal, so I was hoping beyond hope it could happen. But, yeah, wishful thinking.

Honestly, I'd be disappointed if he doesn't see the majors in 2014. I don't think he'll be in Daytona for long.

As Kyle said, Baez is the one who's way more difficult to predict.

I-Cubs are now 0-6. Ouch.

Brett had a good night, 2/4 with a triple and 1 K.

I really don't care about minor league teams W/L records and it's not like the I-Cubs have a ton of guys to get excited about anyways.

I don't think anybody cares, but it still must suck for the guys on the team.

Wrong thread, but I haven't seen any of Rondon's appearances yet. While he is in the majors, I still view him more as a "prospect", so I feel like this isn't a bad place to ask about him.

How has he actually looked so far, for those of you who have seen him? Does he look reasonably promising?

I think the board put him at like #26 or 27 on the prospect list, right? I was voting for him ahead of cats like Lake and Marco and Villanueva, so I admit I've been an optimist on him and probably drinking the Koolaid.

But since I haven't seen any of his innings yet, real season or exhibition, I'd be curious to see what you guys think at this point?

You can tell he's inexperienced, but he belongs on a major league roster. I definitely could see him as a longterm setup guy for us. Hell, maybe even by the middle of this year. At any rate, I like him.

His velocity has been disappointing (88-90), but I'll blame that on the cold weather.

It seems like every time I see him, he's working at 89-90, but then when I miss his inning I'll check back later and PitchFX has him touching 95.

He's averaging 91.89mph on his fastball this year, so I can work with that.

Jeffrey Baez hit a homerun and Ryan McNeil threw 3 scoreless innings with 4 strikeouts: http://www.thecubreporter.com/04092013/baez-long-ball-propels-cubs-victory

Boise's rotation sure could be interesting this summer if Blackburn, Conway, Maples, McNeil and Underwood head there (along with a brief cameo from Appel or Gray if the Cubs draft one of them). I'm sure there's also a chance an intriguing Latin arm ends up there like Daury Torrez or Carlos Rodriguez.

Torrez is on the limited activity list. No clue what thats about obviously. Little surprised Rodriguez isn't in Arizona already too. As far as Rondon goes, I wonder if starting has been taken completely off the table for him at this point?

Daury torrez is on the "inactive" list. Might have been aggressive to skip Mesa and jump to Boise anyway. Even if his injury isn't major or surgery-level or anything, Boise is probably pretty remote now. I'll just hope he's healthy enough to pitch some at Mesa. Too bad.

Thanks for link. McNeil hasn't seemed to generate a lot of buzz, at least from Phil or camp. So nice to see him have an effective game. Cubs were in full signability-mode by round 3, so McNeil was about $50K sub-slot, but even at subplot a high 3rd rounder should still have some real talent possibilities. Would be great if he emerges as a real prospect.

In a previous report, Conway pitched again and struggled, got lifted mid-second inning because his pitch count was done, at 29 pitches. So if his count is 30-pitches, that's still a surprisingly fast comeback, but that's still a pretty controlled count. Rosario pitched two innings (25 pitces) in the same game as Conway.

Torreyes is 0-7 in the two games Phil has reported.
