Wow, already? Don't they usually open a week or two later than MLB?

No. As long as I've followed, it's been the Thursday after big league opening day.

The past few years, though, MLB opened the season earlier in the weekend (I remember because it screwed up the first week of fantasy baseball). So the Thursday was close to a week after opening day.

Really? I always remember the season opening on Sunday Night Baseball.

No idea what you're talking about. 8-[

I'm always mildly intrigued at who gets the opening day starts. Granted, they don't mean that much, but I tend to assume that the guy picked has been throwing well and is ready for whatever workload requested/expected. In this case, seeing Ben Wells get the opening day nod is an intriguing positive, IMO.

A lot easier to nurse hangovers on Friday and Saturday than it will be on a [expletive] Tuesday.
