Wow, no mention of Hossas hot wife??? Disappointing

Yep, trophy city.

Along those lines, did anyone think that celebration was a bit over the top? It's not like he broke any records or hit any big milestone. Great, he played a lot of games. It's not like he's on some retirement going away party. I know that's just McDonough being McDonough and pandering to the idiots, but 1,000 game celebration, particularly for a guy who played 3/4 of those games on other teams just seemed like a bit much.

Whatever, Hossa rules anyway. This season is awesome.

That celebration was ridiculous and his wife looked like she had no interest in being there.

i just think maybe she doesn't understand english

I originally thought the ceremony was over the top, but they showed the graphic that it's been 13 years since a guy played his 1000th game in a Hawks uniform (the memorable Sylvain Cote). It is quite an accomplishment. And Hoss was a huge part of the Cup team, so it's cool with me.

Even that is a convoluted stat. What does it matter if the game was played in a Blackhawks uniform. That isn't an accomplishment. It's a nice long career, but in a league where guys often play for 5-6 teams it's really only noteworthy when somebody like Brodeur plays his 1000th for the same team.

There's like 30 active guys with more games played. Plus, they gave him a picture of him with the cup from three years ago that he probably already has. Did somebody run out to the collectibles store and pay $75 for that?

Right, it would've made a ton of sense if it was a guy that had his entire career with the Blackhawks and hit 1000. But this is what...his 5th team? I like Hossa a lot, and I thought the warmup jersey thing was pretty cool from the guys. But the ceremony was over the top.

I think they gave him a silver stick with his name engraved on it too.

Bottom line, it seemed a little odd to make such a big deal out of it, but I'd rather the Hawks have questionable ceremonies for their stars than go back to the Bill Wirtz era where our long time stars were alienated and estranged from the organization.

“Absolutely, it matters. I remember asking Paul Stastny early in the season, ‘When do we play Chicago?’ Chicago was maybe 5-0 and people were already talking a little about the streak,” Landeskog said. “Now there is only one more game in between and then it’s up to us and we could have a chance to end that streak. To be honest, I want them to win Tuesday night and we want to be the team that goes in there and puts an end to that.”

I've heard that a lot from fans, but not from players.

Before the latest Vancouver game there were quotes from I think one of the Sedin's that they were watching the game and hoping the Hawks won so they could break the streak

Didn't remember that, but it makes more sense coming from them than some dude on the Avs.

The Avs are the only team that hasn't seen the Blackhawks first hand this year.

Why wouldn't you want to be on the team that breaks the streak? If nothing else, it's a chance to be on sportscenter for 90 seconds. All of hockey is watching and, for a team like the Avalanche, they really have nothing to lose.

From a competitve standpoint, I want the other team with all their players so that there are no excuses when or if they lose.

league parity, any given game, yada yada, but colorado is the definition of league average. they'll probably make the same stupid mistake they all make, offending the sensibilities of the blackhawks by trying to win. such insults cannot stand

Yeah, and now the teams play 3 times in the space of 2 weeks.

And then never again this season.

In 2003-2004, the Hawks won 20 games in an 82 game season (albeit they had 11 ties). This year they've won 20 games in a 23 game season (so far)

Adrian Dater, Avs blogger from the Denver Post:

@adater

Avs are going to beat Blackhawks in regulation tomorrow. I absolutely believe this and no I haven't been drinking (much)

@adater

Avs are definitely going to end the Chicago regulation streak by Friday night at latest. It's done
