It was far more on point the first time, but I feel that it's the kind of reference that can be used many times for many topics.

Definitely.

Banedon is just jealous he couldn't counter with a quality American Idol quote.

If I'm being honest, It's been years since I watched American Idol.

According to twitter, its looking like Sharp will miss at least 2-3 weeks. Wonder if Stan is on the phones right now.

Who's saying that? My Blackhawks related twitter accounts are woefully deficient.

I follow just about everyone imaginable for Hawks news and haven't seen that. But I'll take 2-3 weeks in a heartbeat.

I just did a twitter search for 'Patrick Sharp' to find that news out...looks like it originated from Yahoo.

It originated from a Yahoo writer named Nick Cotsonika, who I do follow. But the tweet was sent earlier this morning and I didn't see it. Anyway, like I said, I hope he's right.

2-3 weeks wouldn't be bad at all.

Good news:

Tim Sassone ‏@TimSassone

Frolik not traveling with team today but will join #Blackhawks tomorrow in Denver. Hossa and Shaw ok and going. Sharp not going.

That's really about the best news we could hope for regarding injuries.

Some chucklehead from Eklund's site is saying it's a "grade 2" shoulder separation and could be 3-6 weeks.

But more importantly Shaw and Hossa are good. Not saying Sharp isn't important, but we can handle one guy going down, especially one who can't score to save his ass right now.

OK, well I'm not saying the Blues won't win anything, but in terms of providing solid reasons, that list comes up pretty short.

haha, i know i'm a homer and all, but that is hilariously bad

1) not even worth dignifying

2) hitchcock is a good coach, but this:

And given how the team has faltered thus far, you know they will be completely devoted to Hitchcock's systems once the playoffs roll around.

is cognitively dissonant

3) the blues have had poor goaltending. jared allen, he of sub-.900 save%, has been the least bad. therefore the blues will win the stanley cup

4) something about injuries, then the power play. umm this may come as a shock to some, but the quality of one's power play has very little correlation with how good the team is and how well they do in the playoffs. especially when the team we're referring to is 25th in the league in 5v4 minutes. besides, you spend the vast majority of your ice time 5v5, so maybe try not to be a -.5 +/- as a team over 60 minutes in that format

5) see 1

Bobby Clarke won two Stanley Cups with the Philadelphia Flyers and played a key role in helping them set a new record in 1979-80 with their 35-game points streak.

Clarke thinks “all the records should be challenged and beaten by new generations,” but he argues that the Blackhawks aren’t as close to besting his team’s mark as people are giving them credit for.

“They can’t use last year’s games, that’s foolishness,” Clarke said in an NHL.com report. “Can Sidney Crosby go back and take the points he got in the last 10 games and add them to this year and add them to the scoring race? Can the Flyers add their point total from the last 10 games and add them to this year so they can get a playoff spot?

“It’s legitimate if they do it in one season. It’s not legitimate if they use two season totals.”

Actually, yes Bobby. If they're talking about a personal scoring streak, they can indeed go back to last year.

i [expletive] hate bobby clarke. i really really wish someone would just crosscheck his old ass into eternity.

I like Hitchcock as a coach, but he has not had a lot of playoff success in his career.

recently anyway, he has won a cup though
