Since this game is a blowout (so far), let the trade speculation begin:

The Blackhawks had internal meetings last week in which they drew up their short list of trade targets.

"We’ve identified players that we think would help us," Bowman told ESPN.com. "I’ve called to let those teams know: 'This is a player we’re interested in, you may not be interested in moving him now or ever, but ...' they take note of it. Nobody I’ve talked to yet has wanted to talk further about it, they filed it away. So it’s a waiting game."

The Hawks' roster doesn't really have any gaping holes. But Bowman has a type of player in mind he’s inquiring about.

"I’m probably more looking up front, depth maybe at center," Bowman said. "Not high-end but more a role-playing type center."

Bowman likes his forward depth in the minors, pointing to the likes of Brandon Pirri, Jimmy Hayes and Jeremy Morin.

"We’ve got young guys knocking at the door," he said. "But I guess most of our depth is young guys, so if we add a forward, it’ll be a more experienced guy."

Basically, a John Madden-type center.

minnesota made the mistake of waking them up with that goal

yeah i'm sure in hindsight they wish they hadn't done that

Wild fans said that after the first Bhawks goals on the hockeys future forums.

That's interesting about potential trade targets. It's just so hard to imagine this team needing anything. A good face off guy would help. I still like Gaustad.

it's like when i heard this guy say that devin hester should have run out of bounds on the opening kick of the super bowl instead of returning it for a touchdown.

That forum is exceedingly dumb tonight, no doubt.

Not acceptable for hockey fans only 2 states over to be unaware of our traditions.

The other posters appropriately educated him.

I was just talking to a co-worker today, and I asked him about the Blackhawks. He's originally from Edmonton.

The resulting flood of hatred against the Blackhawks, and particularly Kane, was delicious.

Hahah. I love this whole thing so much.

Could be the first American to lead the NHL in scoring. Would be awesome.

Wow, no mention of Hossas hot wife??? Disappointing

Yep, trophy city.

Along those lines, did anyone think that celebration was a bit over the top? It's not like he broke any records or hit any big milestone. Great, he played a lot of games. It's not like he's on some retirement going away party. I know that's just McDonough being McDonough and pandering to the idiots, but 1,000 game celebration, particularly for a guy who played 3/4 of those games on other teams just seemed like a bit much.

Whatever, Hossa rules anyway. This season is awesome.

That celebration was ridiculous and his wife looked like she had no interest in being there.

it's a pretty big milestone. and it's not like there's not precedent for this, we did the same for eddie olczyk and he played like 8 games for us
