Now that the new PGA Tour season is upon is and on primetime for the first two weeks, I thought I'd start a thread. There are some notable equipment changes amongst tour players. Nick Watney, Kyle Stanley, Rory McIlroy, and a few others joining Nike. McIlroy is rumored to be getting a 10 year, $200 million dollar contract from Nike. It will be announced a week from Monday in Dubai. Will Tiger win a major this year? Will Rory be dominant and win multiple majors? Will Sergio, Luke Donald, or Lee Westwood finally win a major? I think the season is going to be exciting and I can't wait for the Hyundai Tournament of Champions to start, if only so that Golf Channel commercial "Here we are, we are the champions" will disappear.

I'll be rooting for Scott Langley, who just got his card and is from St. Louis. And I know his mom and she's really nice.

And of course I hope Tiger gets on track and duels all year with Rory.

i think rory will always be a threat to win majors for the time being, but i think it's unlikely he wins more than one this year, if any. he's going to play a lighter schedule, but will also be switching equipment. he's also not tiger, and it seems like the expectations of him are in line with what tiger did early in his career. it would be cool to see him win a couple this year, but hopefully not by 8 boring strokes. how bout some nailbiters?

as for tiger, he's back. i don't know if he'll win a major this year, but i am confident he'll win as many tournaments, if not one or two more, than he did last year.

i'm tired with the fixation on the rule changes, and am not looking forward to having to hear about it ad nauseum

There are no rule changes as of yet, but in 2016 the USGA and R&A proposed an anchoring ban on putters. This means that the butt end of the putter cannot be anchored to the body and swing from a fixed point (the belly). Putters that are anchored to the body are being used by more and more amateurs and pros and this supposedly goes against what the governing bodies think a putter stroke should be. There are a number of pros who use this type of putter and stroke: Webb Simpson, Ernie Els, Keegan Bradley, and Adam Scott to name a few. The USGA is hearing responses right now, but the official rule change in 2016 should be finalized in the next few weeks. Edited by Wilson A2000

I'm a huge fan of golf- both playing it and watching it. Not a personal fan of Tiger, but definitely rooting for him to get back to form. Because golf is better with a competitive Tiger Woods chasing Nicklaus' 18 majors.

Despite all the hype about young guns, ie Rickie Fowler, Keegan Bradley, etc, Rory is the only guy I can see who has the talent to have a career even within the realm of Tiger's. He can win double digit majors. It would be exciting to see him battle Tiger for a few years.

I think Tiger will get it together and win at least 1 major this year. Rory will continue as #1 in the world.

Norm Macdonald previews the 2013 PGA tour: http://www.grantland.com/blog/the-triangle/post/_/id/46460/pga-2013-the-year-in-preview

No, seriously.

Fascinating. Tough to take him too seriously. But reading the column, he seems to have a clue about golf. He obviously doesn't have the credibility of a former player but a lot of golf analysts can't break 90. Lets face it. I think Norm McDonald knows a lot more about golf than David Feherty knows about comedy.

Louis Oosthuizen is an intriguing pick. That dude has a ton of talent. When hes on he can be a machinr. I give him credit for picking a guy that's not Tiger or Rory.

tiger wants back with his ex-wife, will sign prenup with cheating clause. lol.

His elbow probably hurts and it's affecting his golf game because of all the zeroes he is writing on those child support checks.

Looks like Rory and Tiger will have plenty of time this weekend to work on their relationships.

Rory liked his new Nike putter so much he went back to his Scotty Cameron after one round. He isn't scheduled to play for a month. He should add a couple of tournaments to get ready for the Masters.

that is crazy

Sounds ridiculous. No way a serial cheater like him isn't in serious danger of relapse. The story said he was willing to guarantee her $350 million? It's like a crack addict betting $350 million he isn't going to smoke crack again. I don't believe it.

Phil Mickelson hates taxes:

http://www.cbssports.com/golf/blog/eye-on-golf/21589838/phil-mickelson-says-changes-coming-because-of-taxes

Hard to feel to sorry for a guy making $50 million a year. But 62-63% taxes, ouch. I think that professional athletes might get screwed worse than anyone else in taxes. After all, who else makes millions of dollars in "salary". Most people making that kind of dough make it from capital gains, and basically pay LESS taxes than everyone else.

I always wondered why he moved back to California after living in Arizona. Most tour players states with little or no state tax. Between the California proposition increasing income tax on $1 million plus and the federal tax increase, Phil is taking a serious hit.
