Interesting...Bears have the 25th largest jumbotron in the NFL.

WTF are the Texans doing? The Cowboys Jumbotron is already ridiculously large and their new one will dwarf it. When you go to a game at Cowboys Stadium (now AT&T Stadium, I guess) you end up watching on the Jumbotron because it is too distracting. It's an amazing piece of technology but it detracts from the game.

There is a very strong sense that fans are being drawn away from the stadium to watch games, and teams are desperate to find gimmicks to keep them in attendance.

The amount of obsession over that pick is astonishing. He's an INT prone QB in the preseason with a hodgepodge line and WR group in his 5th new offense with the team, again, in preseason. QBs throw picks. Picks often look bad. It was like his 5th drive ever under this system, in preseason.

ESPN thought it was a pick worthy of it's own column.

Hub on The Score now.

He's minimizing what Long did, thinks Long is still playing the wrong position, and that Mills was as good or better. Said Mills has a better idea of what to do with his hands.

What position does he think Long should be playing?

He thinks he's on the wrong side because he's left handed and on the right side.

I kind of agree, but handedness is less important for a guard. And he's not playing LT while Bushrod (by cracky) is here.

the prevailing thought is that the stadium experience should match/exceed the home viewing experience on a technological level

You can play RG and be lefty but not RT?

Handedness does not matter for any lineman. That's truly absurd. As a lineman on either side you have be balanced and your down hand does little in the way of weight distribution.

I thought you said Kromer preferred him on the right side because he is lefty

nope, I said he wouldn't play RT because he's a lefty.

you're not protecting the edge like a tackle does.

i don't know, the prevailing wisdom is that being a lefty gives you an advantage on the left edge.

I mean there probably is some advantage, but it's so minimal. I think as a LT having your strong arm on the outside helps a little with funneling guys inside so that they can't get outside your shoulder as easily. But in the grand scheme of things your feet, legs, and brain are doing like 98% of the work and from a strength perspective your non-dominant hand shouldn't be that much weaker that you can't get become pretty ambidextrous blocking-wise with repetition.

I have no idea on where that prevailing wisdom comes from but it sounds awfully dumb.

all things being equal then, you're going to want a lefty at LT. I wouldn't say it's dumb at all. Hub talking about it like Long's playing out of position because he and SLauson aren't flip-flopped is dumb.

Completely ignoring this whole handedness thing, the Bears (Kromer, mostly) believe in having a strong interior above all other things. So you're going to want to keep a barbarian like Long (Khal Long anyone?) where he can do the most damage. In the north, you have some pretty talented and monstrous DTs.

Good point about good DTs in the division. Long and Suh is going to be a great matchup.

I anticipate some personal fouls coming from those battles.

All things being equal, I really don't see how it matters. But even if all things were equal (which they aren't) I struggle to care about things that have zero impact on player evaluations.

you're miserable, i was offering you a draw.

But seriously OL handedness reminds me of QB height and DE 40 times but even more superficial. Like sure there are the extremes like a 5'5" QB or an OL without hands, but are they worth considering?

I agree with you. It is not an issue worth discussing.

Yeah, I only mentioned it originally as an example of Hub being silly. For that to be something he's still harping on after last night's game is just dumb.
