Which one of you is "tharkin" on first-pick.com?

Can't be any of us. As many drafts as that dude evidently does, he couldn't possibly have time to argue with us over here too.

I don't care about the weather. NO was a bad team last year, with the worst D in league history. The Bears were a pretty good team and have been very good early in the season in recent history. I'd like to think the combo of being at home, having their former interim head coach on the staff, and frankly being a better team would mean the Bears beat New Orleans.

Edit: and I know things will drastically change by the time this game is played, but this is hypothetical as of today.

There's also been massive regime change on the Bears and they will have to adjust to the new offensive system, which will not be easy early on. You also shouldn't discount the turmoil New Orleans dealt with in their coaching staff, contributing to their downfall.

Its the 5th game. Regime change isn't an excuse by that point. And the Bears hsve had a new offensive system every year for the last 4 and played well to start the season.

But the same defensive coaching staff almost the entire time. And the defense was the part of the team pulling the load. That defense is on the downslope now and the offense will have to be the one carrying the load. An offense led by a guy who hasn't coached in the NFL for a decade and assisted by multiple guys in the same situation.

That is definitely a concern on the defensive side of the ball. But the increase of talent and actual NFL caliber playbook should make up for most of that. And I'd imagine it would start to do so in or before Week 5.

Anyone else see the Trib's predictions for the upcoming season. A lot of 8-8, 9-6 thoughts. I personally think the Bears have the potential to win 10 games or more depending on how our offense is. I don't think we will see much dropoff in terms of the defense. The D should remain solid.

I don't want to know the reasons behind thinking they will go 9-6.

Bears are working out Mike Glennon tomorrow. I brought it up earlier, while I hope they don't use an early pick on a QB, my guess is they pick one no later than the 4th round.

Unless they trade down a lot then I really really hope not. This is not a good QB draft. Guys who should be 4th rounders are going to go in the first or second.

I had an internal chuckle at "Yeah, whatever" and "BLOCKERS..." For me, it went downhill after going full derp.

That's the only thing about it. Those text thread jokes really shouldn't be more than 5 or 6 exchanges.
