If they were eligible, there's a great chance teams would've performed better against an opponent that actually had something to lose.

I have heard this same thing several times and all I can ask is WTF? So teams are out there not giving it their all because if OSU wins it doesn't matter? I really do not think your logic makes any sense.

I think it is more possible that OSU may have crumbled under the pressure of being undefeated if it really mattered.

They would have absolutely been #2 in the polls. It depends whether an extra win over Nebraksa would move them enough in the computers. It would've been very very close.

They would have absolutely been #1 in the polls, since they'd have started higher than ND.

Eh, I think ND jumps them by beating Oklahoma

The myth of SEC superiority is the greatest fraud ESPN has ever perpetrated on sports fans.

Disagree. Jimmy Rollins as MVP and Gold Glove in 2007 is.

Seeing as how Notre Dame went from 20 to 11 in the AP poll after beating MSU on Sept. 15 while OSU went from 12 to 16 after beating Cal on the same day, I'd guess ND would have been ahead of OSU before the OU game. Also, the next week ND beat Michigan while OSU beat UAB (dropped to 0-3 at the time) 29-15.

That was a 1 time thing. Hardly anybody even questions the SEC superiority myth anymore.

I come from Ole Miss, I wouldn't know anything about SEC superiority unfortunately...

If 75% of bowl games were played in Chicago and Detroit, and ESPN had a huge big ten contract, perceptions would be much different.

This is the team with the best resume in the SEC, too. And it wasn't particularly close through 12 games.
