All of you guaranteeing Manziel won't get drafted #1 are the same ones who laughed at A&M before the season started. Is he a #1 pick now? Not a chance, but he's not entering the draft now. I'm not guaranteeing it or predicting it, but I'm not going to proclaim that it is not even possible when he does enter the draft. All I know is that I wouldn't bet against this kid.

I know I laughed quite a bit at Texas State, I'm not familiar with this A&M you speak of.

If this were true, your college football ignorance would be quite sad. Since you obviously think about Texas A&M quite often it's even sadder that you keep posting stupid [expletive] like this. I'd make fun of your school if I cared enough to know who it is.

A heisman campaign elevates a players stature and marketability. It provides a big lift for a program in recruiting, helps the team get more coverage, and probably in some capacity influences the preseason rankings (which has a pretty big impact).

In the draft I do believe the players popularity/noteriety influences things somewhat. For example if tyrann mathieu gets selected with a pick of any value its due to the exposure he got last year. And obviosuly Tebow doesnt get taken in the first round if he played in the sun belt.

It has an impact, it just means nothing as far as what it's supposed to. Just because a guy wins the Heisman doesn't mean he's deserving of it (or even close to deserving, Mark Ingram). That does t mean people don care about it, though (even though they shouldn't).

Just stumbled across this while looking for a 2013 NFL Mock Draft and remembered the Manziel discussion on this thread. If I'm not mistaken, Walter Football is a highly regarded source of information.

2. Jacksonville Jaguars: Johnny Manziel, QB, Texas A&M

2013 NFL Mock Draft Pick (as of 2/27): Dion Jordan, DE/OLB

Anyone who thinks Johnny Manziel is too small to be chosen in the top five is completely mistaken. Manziel currently stands at 6-foot-1, 200. That's taller than Drew Brees and Russell Wilson. Robert Griffin (6-2, 220) is pretty much the same size as Manziel will be following next season. Manziel also boasts a very good arm and great accuracy. There's no reason why he can't be a top-five selection if he continues to play as he did in his Heisman campaign.

You know a team's quarterback situation is dire when Chad Henne represents some hope. Making matters worse, new general manager David Caldwell believes in building around Blaine Gabbert. That's an embarrassing statement, as Caldwell clearly hasn't watched much tape on Gabbert. He's about to find out how terrible and cowardly he is. Jacksonville isn't going anywhere until it addresses the quarterback position.

And I've been making fun of them for mocking Manziel that high for some time.

Keep in mind, until their most recent 2014 mock, they didn't have David Fales in the first round. He keeps mocking Louis Nix III in the 20s. And despite how often teams overrate QBs, I don't think any team (let alone two!) will go QB over a once-in-a-decade talent like Clowney.

I've found that Walterfootball has some of the worst mocks. He's fun to follow because he updates weekly, but some of his selections are real head scratchers. He also overstates some teams' needs and has teams over drafting because of that and ignores some other draft trends.

Yeah, I started feeling that way last year, and moreso this year.

Definitely agree, and I think the head scratchers are even more pronounced when looking at guys in a draft over a year away.

He had Geno Smith going #1 overall long after it became obvious there was no way any QB was #1 worthy this year.

he'll be chosen in the top-five because [2nd rounder] and [3rd rounder], got it

Irish chocolate ain't slipping to the 20s unless he decides to pass on football for a career in showbiz.
