Well that sucks, wasn't going to last forever. Probably only a matter of time until Brady catches him.

Still has a long way to go. He didn't throw a TD pass against Baltimore in the playoffs last year and has had three games this year with only 1 TD pass. I'm not saying he won't break the record, just that it's far from a sure thing.

Glazer reported a few minutes ago a Chiefs player and another person had been shot at their facility this morning. Then, a few minutes later King RT's a guy saying player killed GF and then himself. Wow.

Not trying to make this about anything other than a family who lost their daughter/sister/aunt/cousin. But how does the team handle this situation? You can't really make an outward display to mourn a guy that killed his GF and left his 2 1/2 month old child parentless other than a moment of silence before the game. This isn't a Sean Taylor situation where you show a highlight montage pre-game for him and wear helmet stickers for him. Well, maybe you can wear a helmet sticker, but this is a messed up situation.

Feel bad for everyone involved in this situation. The NFL really needs to do something, because it's not a coincedence that there have been several young men dying during or soon after their careers.

Raw is right, the chiefs are in a delicate spot here. I mean, had Rae Carruth shot himself would they have had helmet stickers for him? I doubt it. This guy was a murderer. I say no helmet stickers. No remembrances. A moment of silence for a "tragedy in the Chiefs family" seems appropriate.

He shot himself in front of Crennel and Pioli? That's pretty [expletive] traumatic for them too if true.

Hopefully there are some close family members that can step in and take care of the baby. What a mess. Did he have any concussion issues? Not that it's the only thing to cause something like this but you always wonder now.

Wow. I didn't hear that. Crazy if true. If it's not concussions it's the general lifestyle, supplements, pain killers, or whatever. You gotta be a certain type of person to make it in the NFL. The alpha male personality it takes to play can lead to terrible things if taken off the field.

I'd wonder more about roid rage.

KCPD says he thanked them before doing it yikes. This is from Jason La Canfora's twitter via Deadspin.

Thanks Crennel and Pioli?

That's traumatizing.

I can't see how the Chiefs play their game tomorrow.

Yeah, I assume for the opportunity etc.

I figured they would play before I heard about the coaching staff witnessing the shooting. I guess you could cancel/postpone a game based on that, but it's still a delicate situation of a player who did something really terrible. Usually things like that aren't shown the respect of cancelling a game. This is a lot different situation from like say, Darryl Kile back in the day.

PFT states that he shot his girlfriend in front of her mother as well. Ugh.

Apparently there are no plans to cancel the game. I don't know how there could be any focus at all by Crennel. And who could blame him. That's some fucked up movie [expletive].

Pretty sure the Titans honored Steve McNair after his murder suicide. McNair was a more beloved figure in Nashville than I'd assume Belcher is in KC though, so it may not be a good comparison.

I don't think anyone is thinking concussions are the most likely reason, but given how much the story has been in the press lately, I'm not surprised people are bringing it up as a possibility.

There could be a million reasons why but in the last 2 years Dave Duerson and Junior Seau both killed themselves and (I believe) their suicides were traced back to concussion related injuries (I apologize if this is incorrect). Also within the last decade in a different realm of entertainment, Chris Benoit snapped and killed his wife, young kids, and later himself, and afterwords was shown to have major brain damage caused by concussions. It's something that's fresh in the minds of your average football/sports fan.

I think its just so random and out of place when a NFL starting linebacker randomly decides to murder his girlfriend in front of her mother and then drives to his team's practice facility to kill himself in front of his bosses, people immediately try to make sense of a senseless situation.

According to a friend of Kasandra Perkins, the woman killed today by Chiefs linebacker Jovan Belcher, the couple argued in the early morning hours after the woman was out late attending Friday’s Trey Songz concert at The Midland.

The friend, who asked not to be identified, said Belcher confronted Perkins when she returned home about 1 a.m.

The couple had dated about three years and argued frequently, the friend said, but she wasn’t aware of any prior physical abuse.
