i think the bulls match up with the heat better without rose. with rose, the heat just throw lebron on him and we lose any production out of that position. but without rose, spoelstra has no idea who to use lebron against, so he ends up doing stupid [expletive] like using him on Noah in the first half and then using him against Belinelli, who is absolutely no threat to take the ball to the hoop, in the second.

In game 2 I expect LeBron on Nate Robinson in the 4th.

that would be stupid, too. because then belinelli gets a ton of open looks and is a better shooter than robinson, who will find him again and again. using lebron on a player the caliber of robinson is dumb.

I think Lebron is a much better matchup on Rose than he would be on Nate. Nate may very well make mistakes, take and miss ill advised shots, but I think he'd have an easier chance getting shots off on Lebron than Rose has.

the thing is, with robinson on the floor, they don't need nate to get his shot, they have other guys that are playing well, too. with rose, they need him to get his shot in order to win, their game changes.

rose is a great player against every other team because no one can guard him except lebron, but against the heat, their game plan goes to hell.

I'm stunned about this win. Just stunned and excited. I won't believe we will win this series until we win the 4th but still, awesome.

If Butler is off the floor, the Heat can pretty much do what they want.

If I were drawing up the Heat gameplan, I would go at Butler hard early in the game and try to get him into foul trouble. Hopefully that doesn't happen.

Well Spoelstra is an awful coach, so hopefully they don't figure anything out.

Spoelstra is not an awful coach

He's certainly not a great coach.

I wouldn't put him on the caliber of somebody like Carlisle, but I'd certainly put him closer to very good than awful.

"Derrick's a brother," Noah said. "And to see him go through this is tough but at the end of the day it's really funny how quick people are to judge. But people don't know what it's like to lead a team, especially after you tore your ACL.

"If you tore your ACL and you have to be the starting point guard and have the expectations that Derrick has then maybe you can judge, but everybody who hasn't been in that situation before should really shut up because I feel like it's just so unfair to him and to this team. We're fighting and everybody's going to just s--- on somebody who's been given so much to this organization. It's crazy to me."

- Joakim Noah

Yeah this team sure does hate him.

Maybe I'm an idiot, a meatball, a prisoner of the moment, or all of the above, it's certainly possible, but I got to tell you, if GS called up this summer and offered Curry for Rose, I take that deal. All hypothetical of course....

I know it's fun to hate on Rose right now but thank God you're not the GM.

Probably so, but factor that Steph Curry is morphing into a top 5 PG as we speak, and we dont' know what a post ACL Rose will be, maybe it's not that crazy.

True, we don't. But while we don't have in-game data, the practice reports sound promising.

And it's not like Steph Curry is a picture of perfect health. I worry that his ankle is going to explode one day.

Those three guys alone -- Butler, Robinson and Belinelli -- combined for 58 points, 24 rebounds and 13 assists against Miami in Game 1.

Those three combined make $4.2 million this season

Miami's Mike Miller, who dropped in for six minutes to score five points with three rebounds, is making $5.8 million.

Impressive [expletive]. Forman understands how to build to a bench with role players at value. Its actually quite similar to the approach Krause and Phil took in the 90's: add veterans / younger players who do one or two things well; play them in a way that maximizes their skill sets.

The abberation of course is Robinson - the Jordan Era teams never had anyone like this. To me he most resembles Vinnie "The Microwave" Johnson.

For those of you too young to remember him:

It's going to suck to lose Nate next year because Jerry wants to save money.

They don't have Bird rights to him, so any team can just price him beyond what the Bulls can legally afford (the MLE, basically, since the Bulls are up against the hard cap), and they will.

Did you watch the first round? Bellinelli is absolutely a threat to take it to the hoop.

I'd be surprised if he gets offered more than the MLE. Guys like Nate won't get paid under the new CBA.

Oh, he'll get paid. NBA owners continue to be ridiculous with their contract signings, just hoping they can balk their way out of it in the next bargaining agreement.
