This Rose stuff is hilarious.

Reports that Rose was caught off guard by the leaking of that news about him being cleared yesterday. One said he was upset at Bulls management.

Now Rose missed practice today and people speculated it was unexcused and people on RealGm jumped to the conclusion that Rose was pissed at management and ditched practice. But now Fridell and others were told the missed practice was excused because Rose had a dentist appointment.

RealGM is freaking psycho over everything.

A millionaire and most famous Chicago resident can't get a dentist appointment not during practice?

Not that I'm saying that's not the reason or that Rose skipped practice for any non cleared reason, but its funny to think of the conversation where Derrick Rose has to ask to miss practice because that's when his dentist appointment is.

The problem is that Rose's dentist is Allen Iverson.

So now Rose is saying his hamstrings are the reason he isn't coming back yet....

Also the Bulls looked pretty bad today. They looked gassed and the Lakers beat them to a lot of rebounds and caught them sleeping on defense a lot. The big minutes on Deng/Noah/Boozer look to be catching up with the lack of depth recently.

Went to the Lakers game yesterday, it was a horrific offensive performance by the Bulls which was expected. Mainly went to see the local LA talent and hang out with a friend.

@kcjhoop

DRose talked at length with beat writers. Said he still hasn't had any setbacks but doesn't know if he'll play this season. More coming soon.

If he's not even talking like he expects to be back this season, then I'm just going to assume he's not.

I've been stubbornly sure that Rose would end up coming back this year but now that the comments are coming out from his talk with reporters today, I am starting to believe that Rose isn't coming back this year unless he miraculously wakes up one day with no pain. Hope I'm wrong.

Rose said he doesn't want to play until his knee feels normal. That won't happen for a while I'm assuming. Rose played through injuries last year, to a fault sometimes. I guess he isn't doing it this time.

whoever decided they'd let DROSE decide this is the clear moron. i mean, people who actually mastered standardized testing have declared this thing good to go. what's the hold up?

oh, your hamstrings are on fire. who gives a [expletive], did you just have surgery on them?

if anyone else not named rose was missing games cause their hamstrings were "on fire", this town would be eating them alive

I'm not keeping up too closely with how Chicago media is covering this, but local radio is hammering Rose over this. Our afternoon guy is from Chicago, so we get a pretty fair share of Bears/Bulls opinion stuff, and he's all over Rose recently. He questions why a star athlete isn't chomping at the bit to get back and compete, but instead seems okay with coming back whenever. Rose's "I wouldn't mind missing the rest of the season" quote really set it off

Because it's ridiculous; it's like e2s said, if this was any other star athlete being this evasive or supposedly saying the things Rose is people here would be mocking them left and right. The local radio isn't even all that critical of them; more just questioning the whole ridiculous situation, yet you'll have all kinds of people calling up and saying "how could you say that about Rose?!? How could you turn on him like that?!?!?!" and so on. If this was Kobe or LeBron people here would be having a field day with the story.

I'm not even mad at Rose; he's just not very smart and wants impossible things, like returning only when he feels he's at or close to 100% or totally pain-free. I'm mad at the people around him and advising him for basically going along with this and agreeing with him and at the Bulls for seemingly for not putting their foot down. He's needlessly delaying an important part of the recovery process.

The practical difference between the 2 through 7 seeds in the Eastern Conference is basically nothing. As long as he has enough games under his belt to knock the rust off before the playoffs I'm not going to get too worked up.

Jay Cutler is watching this unfold in disbelief.

He actually just extremely briefly talked about Rose on ESPN1000...sounded like he wasn't sure that Rose was ready to return.

This is the kind of thing that it seems like Rose is thinking; playoff performance this season shouldn't even be a real concern for him. Yeah, it's obvious they're in, but his focus should be just getting back to playing form, not getting back to a level he can be a game changer for this year's playoffs. If that's do-able, great, but if not, oh well; get out there and play and work back up to fighting shape however long it takes. Putting it off just pushes the whole process back pointlessly.

And the handling of this from a PR stand point has been sloppy as hell but nothing so bad that a few exciting games or even plays won't fix once he's back.

Who cares about the PR? It's abundantly clear that the vast majority of Bulls fans aren't seriously bothered by this and are fine with whatever Rose decides. My concern is about the Bulls FO actually running the team well.
