The Saints may be the most talented 0-4 team in memory...but it's likely the end of the road for them.

Since the AFL/NFL merger, only 1 team has made the playoffs after starting 0-4. In addition, with the Falcons 4-0, the Saints only hope would be a wild card.

That 1 team was SD, who finished 8-8. Atlanta is clearly not going to allow 8-8 to be good enough for the playoffs.

Is that gigantic signature really necessary?

Brees ties the NFL record with a TD pass in his 47th consecutive game. Brady ties Favre for third with a TD pass in his 36 straight game.

You know what should be fun. When the Saints end up with the easiest schedule in the league next year thanks to their record this year. Then next year, Sean Payton returns, they end up with a much better record due to the schedule, and we can hear how awesome the Saints are and how much they missed Payton. #warmfuzzies

Eventually, coaches are going to realize that icing the kicker does more harm than good.

It's taking too long.

Easy schedule and an impact player in the draft. It's good to crap the bed every once in a while.

The way the league does schedules makes your record almost irrelevant when it comes to difficulty. Hell, New England went to the Super Bowl and they got one of the easiest schedules in the league.

It's not irrelevant. Having bad teams in your division is one help, and the division rotation schedule is helpful too. But you do still face teams that finished in the same "spot" as you did in other divisions.

Next season, the Saints get the NFC West and the AFC East. With the exception of the Pats and Niners, there's some very beatable teams in there.

It's 2 games out of 16 that are determined by division finish, and with the NFL the way it is these days, playing the team who placed the same as you in another division might as well be a lottery ticket. SF plays the Saints because both placed 1st last year. Tampa Bay plays the Vikings this year because both were last in 2011.

So the Saints schedule is likely easy next year, but it had very little to do with how they played this season.

The two games that are variable will be against an NFC East team and an NFC North team. The East is so balanced that there really isn't a team that will be quite a bit easier than the others. The North is a little more unbalanced, but has no team that is likely to be bad both this year and next year. So the Saints struggles will not affect their schedule much at all next year. If they were in the AFC, it would be a little bit of a different story, but the NFC is so balanced right now.

Interesting...

Special teams coordinator Mike Priefer had studied video of the Tennessee Titans' 105-yard kick return in their win over the Lions and saw something he thought the Vikings could exploit -- particularly if Detroit covered its kickoffs the same way. So when Harvin took the game's opening kickoff and veered across the field, the Vikings knew they'd gotten exactly what they wanted. "It was a great call by Coach (Priefer)," Harvin said. "They (the Lions) overplayed it. The blockers did a great job, and I did the easy part."

And anyone else sick of hearing about Ed Hochuli? I'm sick of it. Sure he's a good ref, but people make him out to be god's gift to football. Shut up about Ed Hochuli already!

I think he's just the most known referee so when SI inexplicably puts an NFL referee on their cover, Hochuli is their cover boy.

Oh and he has guns of steel.

I can't figure out why Mike Carey and his mustache aren't more popular than Juicer Hochuli.

Hochuli interacts and communicates with fans. Years ago he was just the ref with the guns, but he made himself a celebrity by responding to all the commentary.

Is it the good leukemia?

They said treatable form, so yes?

Just about any leukemia is "treatable". I'm sure he is undergoing induction chenotherapy now. There are forms that have a very poor prognosis and some with a very good prognosis in terms of long term survival. So basically saying its "treatable" means very little. Wish him the best.
