Atlanta only giving Carolina seven points, at home, considering Carolina's defense and Atlanta's offense, is absolute free money.

Naturally the Panthers will probably find a way to cover.

This reminds me, since I'm not working in collegiate athletics anymore (starting on Tuesday), I can start gambling on sports again. Are there any reputable sites left out there that actually pay out? Is Bodog/Bovada still good? Sportsbook.com?

NO giving 7.5 @GB gets the Admiral Akbar Special of the Week.

You mean getting 7.5, well 8 now. I've seen it up to 9 at some points since the lines came out Sunday night. Sure seems like a trap to me too.

Derp, yes.

Give me reasons Ravens would be a play, other than "they are better"? I can give you lots for the other 2.

Cardinals are at their highest value of the season, 3-0. Dolphins coming off a game they should have won. The line was set a 6.5, not 7 or 7.5. If this game was week 1 what do you think the line would be? Probably something like Cardinals -2. No value here.

Bills/Pats....Home underdogs are covering at a crazy clip this year and winning outright a ton too. Most speculate it's somewhat due to the refs. Obviously the sharps feel differently than you as they bet this line down a ton, 4 is still a key number. This number was high due to unknown statuses of FJax/Spiller, but who cares? RB is an easy position to replace and Ryan Fitzpatrick is playing great and has played well vs NE in his career.

Regarding Browns/Ravens:

Ravens are off a huge come from behind win vs NE. This is a short week and they have little motivation to beat the Browns by double digits. The Browns hate the Ravens, and rightfully so. The public will be ALL OVER the Ravens tomorrow night and that's great. They will lose on a bet like this 75% of the time.

Anybody that thinks they know the spread better than the oddsmakers is a fool. There is a reason the line is set as it is. To create betting. If a line seems too good, then that is a red flag. There is a reason Vegas is still Vegas and a reason the oddsmakers are oddsmakers.

Blackjack is the only thing in Vegas that gives any odds to the gambler.

ETA: That is not to say someone can't have a "hunch" about a game. Of course, there are always those types of bets. But no one can reasonably say a line is "crazy" or that betting for or against any set odds is crazy. Nobody knows more than the people setting the lines. It's a crapshoot at best.

So true.

Underdogs win 50% of the time, Favorites win 50% of the time.

Also, if you look at margin of victory, even though dogs and favorites are 50/50, the margin of victory is unpredictable. This means that favorites can cover the spread by 10 points, or dogs can win outright. So much for the teaser being a good bet.

Vegas wins 100% of the time. Maybe there are professionals who are very disciplined, do a ton of research, and win consistently. But they are the minority.

And anyone else sick of hearing about Ed Hochuli? I'm sick of it. Sure he's a good ref, but people make him out to be god's gift to football. Shut up about Ed Hochuli already!

LOL @ the NFL.

"We support the decision of the replacement refs."

NFL owner to me on the Seahawk-Pack debacle: "That game reshaped everything...it shook me. I think it shook a lot of people."

You're going to see him everywhere this weekend. He'll probably be the one ref that gets a large share of the TV re-play time for all the news clips, since he's the most recognizable face.

So......hold yer nose and get ready for a Hochuli avalanche :)
