Bulls don't do that.

Agree, but they should. We're losing Taj next offseason or we're paying him a ton of money. I'd rather not do either of those things. You'll be worse off next year, but it's a dead season anyway. Unless the Bulls are actually going to amnesty Boozer (which I can't see JR signing off on) it helps to get out of Boozer's contract for the summer of 2014, which is what we should be targeting. In the meantime, you upgrade Boozer and I don't have to listen to everybody irrationally hate on him any longer.

I think Gasol fits well with Nash. That said, any chance of a 3 way with the Bulls:

Lakers give: Gasol, Bynum

Lakers get: Howard, Boozer

Bulls give: Boozer, Gibson, Watson

Bulls get: Gasol

Magic give: Howard

Magic get: Bynum, Gibson, Watson

Lakers do it because they get Dwight and bring along Boozer, who makes Dwight happy. Maybe he'll be more open to resigning. Boozer is also a good fit with Nash in the PnR and now that he's primarily a jump shooter, he won't clog the paint too much for Dwight.

Magic do it because they get Bynum and Gibson to form a pretty good and youngish frontcourt. Watson becomes a decent shooter for them, but is primarily there to make the money work (and is an expiring).

Bulls do it because they get out from Boozer's contract (Gasol ends 1 year earlier) and get an upgrade to their starting PF. Losing Gibson is tough, but he's going to get a huge deal next offseason so it's better to use him as a trade asset now.

It'll never happen. You could also argue the Lakers would be better off sending Gasol somewhere else and getting a better secondary player than Boozer back. But any team getting Gasol in that 3 way has to send back a player better than Gibson to Orlando and better than Boozer to LA. Plus Boozer is one of Dwight's pals and might help in convincing him to resign in LA. The Bulls could also include picks to LA or Orlando if necessary.

I got 1/3 through this and had to double take when I realized it wasn't backtobanks authoring it.

Does every team get worse in this trade?

Not that they did before but does anyone in the East have a remote chance to beat them with Rose's injury?

Even with a healthy rose, the heat have it again. Somebody in the east needs to build a playoff winner.

Possible 4 team deal to get Howard to the Nets....

According to sources the Nets would receive Howard, Jason Richardson, Chris Duhon and Earl Clark in the proposed deal. The Magic would get Brook Lopez, Luke Walton, Damion James, Shelden Williams, Armon Johnson and three first-round picks -- two from the Nets and a lottery-protected first from the Clippers. The Cavs would get Kris Humphries, Quentin Richardson, Sundiata Gaines, a first-round pick from the Nets and $3 million in cash. The Clippers would receive MarShon Brooks.

The deal also could involve the Charlotte Bobcats replacing the Cavaliers, league sources told ESPN The Magazine's Ric Bucher.

I have no idea why any team other than the Nets would do that deal.

Exactly.

Brook Lopez and 3 picks most likely around the 20ish area. There's no way that gets it done in the end.

The other unnamed piece in the deal is that for the salary numbers to match up, several players need to be signed to insane deals to be traded. Lopez would have to be signed to a max deal prior to the trade.

For the Cavs, they're basically getting paid in draft picks to fill spots they would have otherwise filled with other free agents. It makes a lot less sense if Humphries' new deal is onerous, but the indications so far are that isn't the case(especially since Humphries is a pretty good player).

Orlando should just stop answering the phone. They should look at what Denver did with Carmelo and realize that moving Howard quickly is probably not going to land them the best deal. If you don't get exactly what you want, start the season with him and wait for other teams to get desperate.

Magic apparently are looking at trading Howard to other teams now other than the Nets. Sounds like the 3-4 team deal needs a lot of stuff to happen yet to go through (like 5 guys need to agree to sign and trades).

I also take it as maybe the Lakers are jumping in and offering Bynum. Kind of like they did with Nash, wait until you find out all the teams bidding and what they are paying and just when he's about to pick where to go step in with an offer.
