Del Valle's outing is done. 6 perfect, 11 K's. Wow.

Then Figueroa comes in and blows the perfecto, no-hitter, AND shutout.

Cuban lefty we gave 850K bonus to a couple of years ago. Don't remember much about his stuff, other than it was considered average.

Hate to throw the proverbial wet blanket on a ridiculous performance, but I just noticed both of these:

keithlaw ‏@keithlaw

It happens. Not a guy, though. “@davidrelliott: @keithlaw you got anything on Frank del Valle? 6 perfect, 11K's tonight somehow......”

Kevin Goldstein ‏@Kevin_Goldstein

not a big prospect. “@OffAirOnPoint: @Kevin_Goldstein Frank Del Valle having good night for Daytona, what u know about him?”

Javy Baez with another steal tonight, now 8/8. Wasn't expecting that.

@peoriachiefs

Whole lot of fun to watch! RT @Nate_Ennis: Baez just made a play that is #SCTop10 worthy.

Yeah, that's me asking Law. Was hoping he had been under the radar this season.

2nd walk by Jackson loads the bases. 0-1, 2 BBs, and a you know what?

Amezaga cleared the bases with a double. Rizzo drove him in with a single.

Del Valle was the guy who threw an 88 mph pitch that the Peoria scoreboard mistakenly showed as 98 and got tweeted across the country. He's got decent stuff but he really is no more a prospect than, say, Austin Kirk.

Candelario! Another homer.

let the hype begin.

Begin? I think there were a lot of us who were considering putting him top 10 last year. Of course that was more an indictment of the farm and a guy who had plate discipline in farm filled with free swingers.

I stand by yesterday's comment, as far as position prospects go the Cub's farm can compete with any other team.

Didn't AzPhil always compare him to Jeffry Antigua?

Off the top, I think Del Valle's breaking ball is probably a tinge better than Kirk's, but Kirk has a better overall arsenal.

something tells me that the pitches/strikes data for peoria is inaccurate, unless jose rosario has somehow thrown 34 pitches in 7 innings, 30 for strikes, and all of those balls came during the 1 walk he issued.

i'm just talking national hype. He was in or around most of our top 10 lists already.

Peoria's twitter says 74 pitches thru 7, although it doesn't say how many strikes.

I need someone with far more knowledge on this to help me out here. How excited should I be now about this guy? I want to be fired up.

Iowa killing Round Rock now. Jackson 1 for 2 with a HR, 2 BB, and a K. Rizzo 2 for 3 with a 3B. Vitters 2 for 3 with a 2B.

Role reversal last inning. Jackson went deep (opposite field). Rizzo struck out swinging.
