Rizzo strikes out swinging. Jackson hit a FB into the gap that advanced Sappelt who doubled. Vitters now up with runners on the corners and 2 outs.

McNutt's night wasn't over, as he evidently had runners on. Wound up giving up 9, 8 earned. Concepcion's being competitive, having given up 7 in 3 now.

And Jay Jackson gave up 4 in the first 2 innings. 19 runs in 9.1 innings for the starters in Iowa, Tennessee, and Peoria. Meanwhile, Matt Loosen is throwing a 1-hitter thru 5 for Daytona.

Loosen really needs to get to AA. It's not that I legitimately think Loosen is much ... but he needs to see tougher competition. He's settled down a bit. More of an end of the rotation type of guy, but it'd be nice to challenge him. He's really been on a nice roll in A+. Guess he has to wait for a spot to open, though.

As a total side note, I had it in my head for some reason, probably because I haven't been paying attention, that Francescon's numbers in A+ were bad. They really aren't. Walk rate is up, due to the 2 games on the road, but overall, not a bad number, and K rate is even slightly up in the early-goings. A long way to go, but admittedly, a part of me worried if Francescon would struggle badly in A+ as a starter.

Why are they even starting Jackson still? He's been great in the pen and awful as a starter.

What do you guys think of Harris? I've always kinda been pulling for the guy. Any chance he ends up a solid MLB reliever?

At his 2012 rate, Rizzo would hit 60 HR if he had 650 PA. He turns 23 in August.

Definitely think he had a shot, however I'm not sure how he beat Cabrera and Rhoderick to Iowa.

He'd better stop walking people at the rate he is. But he seems to have pretty good stuff. I think he's a FB (low-mid 90s) and slider guy. He's already 25, so he's going to have to make it happen pretty soon.

Rizzo hit another over the wall, but it bounced first. Ground-rule double. This one off the lefty Teaford who's on the Omaha/KC shuttle. Edited by Sammy's Boombox

I wonder whether it's Soriano or LaHair that's dealt to make room for him? It's either that or one of them to the DL.

Rizzo's 2nd HR gave him the minor league lead for HRs this season. Tied him with Josh Hamilton for all of professional baseball. His 1st HR of the game went over the head of Wil Myers in CF, thus tying Myers at that point.

Sorry, this [expletive] is fun!

Why would LaHair go on the DL? I think it would make more sense to deal Reed Johnson for whatever the Cubs can get, which I'm sure isn't much.

Soriano, DeJesus, LaHair in the OF. Not any worse defensively than Soriano/Mather/DeJesus

Or you could move DeJesus to CF and LaHair to RF. The defense would be freaking awful but I don't really care at this point.
