I respect what Sori's going through, playing hurt, not complaining, and certainly playing better. Unfortunately, it's the playing hurt part, that's going to keep him from being dealt this season.

We're gong to have to eat the contract...and the sooner the better so others can come up and start our rebuild.

The biggest mistake our new masterminds are making is hanging onto Sori trying 'to get something for him'

Its retarding the progress of Brett Jackson, who needs to get on-the-job training at the MLB level.

The money is gone...we cant get it back. Release Sori.

Should have been done last winter.

I'm one of the biggest B Jackson fans around and even I'm scared of what that 31% K rate will do in the majors. He doesn't NEED OJT in the majors, he needs to improve his contact skills in AAA.

Like Castro and Campana and Cardenas...

what's the difference? /.we're dead last ?

On the job training for all.....cant be scared of them failing....we need to know what we have

Seriously...why is he different from our other rookies..>?

he literally just told you. brett jackson is striking out like adam dunn at iowa. calling him up right now would be idiotic.

Not even close..check the numbers.

Does he strike out as much as Sori...?

Plus...he's a 'plus' defender...You've seen him play. What are we waiting for with Jackson?

We're deader than Elvis and we're afraid to call up prospects...

If you're okay with Sori's 'D' vs. his 'O'//

//I wouldnt want to change your mind.....

I was going to say.. Sori doesn't K THAT much like Dunn/Reynolds/etc. He just looks so bad at the plate K'ing that it seems like he Ks 40% of the time.

Soriano is better than any of the organizational LF solutions for the foreseeable future, assuming Jackson plays CF and Lahair can't play the OF well. If the big payoff to dumping him is a couple of fringe prospects and accruing service time for some other players, then I don't see why you wouldn't hold onto him in the hopes that he might be productive on a winning team. An OF acquisition by trade or FA might change the calculus, but I dont have a problem with him currently being on the team.

That assumes that we are trying to put together a winning team in the near future.

Even if we have a winning team by next season, what are the chances that he'll remain healthy and productive? He's going to be 37. Players don't tend to get better when they hit that age.

I don't know that dealing Soriano for little is going to severely alter our chances of winning in the short or long term. He's probably not going to be particularly productive over the entirety of this, or especially next, season and his production can probably be replaced relatively easily on the FA market.

I'm hoping Theo/Hoyer are working the phones hard with Ned Colletti and GMs like that who may overreact to this torrid streak by Soriano. If they could move him for something of value because of this hot streak, that'd be pretty awesome. Then go get Upton in the offseason and go with BJax/Upton/DeJesus next season.

We've always seen Sorianos insane hot streaks and then the bottom drops out, but he's been doing well since the beginning of May, and it seems to me as though it's been his longest overall stretch since 2008.

Or not, but whatever.

Nobody is going to over react to the hot streak, but if they could see him as what he is, a guy who his lefties well and is still capable of hitting at least 20 HR. They could very well give up 2-3 low level guys.

I'm ecstatic Soranio is hitting, he may help the Cubs by playing well enough to get himself traded.

Brett Jackson has barely played 100 games at AAA.

Thanks Dude....I appreciate the help... :good:

100 AAA games....almost 3 1/2 years in pro ball?

Its time to see if the boy can play MLB...

..and the money we owe Sori is lost...We cant get it back. Have a 'Sori appreciation day' and then release him.

Let him misjudge one more ceremonial flyball like Kerry Wood got one more strikeout...

We have to pay him either way. So we can release him or we can continue to watch him miss balls in left field.

Its our choice..

release a guy who's OPS-ing over .800 with a WAR of 1.4 already this season? i don't think you know what you're saying.

i know this is a joke account and all, but i can't resist.

It depends on what you mean by overreacting. I'm under no delusion that we'll get significant value for Soriano, but it is possible that somebody like Colletti might bump up their offer a bit (or even get interested period) in Soriano because of this 1.000 OPS since the start of May.

To me, giving up 2-3 low level guys (i.e. "lottery tickets") and paying any salary at all would be overreacting.

The word filter needs to take any form of punctuation that is repeated more than once and replace the entire post with "I'm a stupid moron with an ugly face and big butt and my butt smells and I like to kiss my own butt."
