Top 5 Wood memories for me, personally

1. Game 5 2003 NLDS (with me in attendance)

2. Game 1 2003 NLDS (basically singlehandedly winning that game)

3. 20K game

4. Game 7 home run

5. some random game against the Cardinals where he struck out Fernando Vina on a slider that hit him

I thought we had it won when he hit that

Much more so than the 20K game. That was so huge.

Yep. Won't ever forget that night. Awesome.

If you're talking strictly one moment, it's the game 7 HR. I still get chills.

Definitely. I didn't get to see the 20k game live, but I saw this one and man I was pumped.

The game 7 homer should've been the ultimate hero moment. When does the freaking pitcher ever go deep in a GAME SEVEN??? It's just too bad that his hot streak ran out that day on the mound.

That was Dusty's fault. He should have come out after that.

I'll go with Dusty's fault for riding all his pitchers too hard down the stretch and through the playoffs.

Didn't he do that to Duncan in the same game? IIRC it was May 2003 and Gonzalez hit a walk off home run. Maybe I'm combining my games though.

I'm probably dumb for thinking this, but I think it would have been nice if they let Kerry pitch and throw one inning.

Edit: I was wrong, this was the game Gonzalez won on a walk off, and Duncan didn't play and Vina didn't strike out. http://www.baseball-reference.com/boxes/CHN/CHN200305100.shtml

Apparently, Duncan was on the radio recently and talked about how he once struck out on a Marmol slider that hit him in a very sensitive area.

Kerry Wood has to be my all time favorite Cub. I saw the 20k game live and it will go down in history to me as the greatest most dominantly pitched game of all time. it should have been a perfect game but Orie had no range and just missed the grounder. No one had or will ever have the "stuff" that Kerry had when he was at the top of his game. I'll miss him and it sucks he had to go out on a bad team pitching poorly. I hope he gets one more dominant inning.

I guess I forgot the hbp, prob hit some part of Biggio's plastic armor set.

I remember Wood flipping out on the home plate ump in 04 after he got squeezed on a couple of calls and was taken out of the game. I think it was vs the Reds, it was awesome.

I still think that one of the the top 5 pitching performances of all time. I just havent seen someone with that much movement on his pitches have that much command over them. The Astros were an offensive juggernaut in the heart of the steroid era and he made them look like the 2012 Cubs offense. He probably could have been just as dominant against that year's All-Star team.

Yup, that was an oft-repeated video whenever anyone wanted to illustrate the struggles of the 2004 Cubs.

Was that the argument where Dusty looked like a weird dinosaur with his oddly proportioned arms flailing everywhere
