Samardzija got pummeled for 10 runs tonight. He now has a 5.27 ERA overall and a 7.48 ERA since the AS break.

Yeah, I think he'll be getting that big contract.

I'd take him at 3/30, guessing he'll go for the 1 year deal though.

I wonder if he'll just take the QO and/or if the White Sox even extend it to him?

If I'm Shark, I need a fresh start and look elsewhere. Are the Sox even going to offer him the QO? Are his numbers the last 2 years still good enough for compensation? Even if they are, do they want risk him coming back next year?

He's gonna have a hard time finding someone to take him on if he rejects that qualifying offer. On the other hand, i'd be surprised if the white sox would even extend him the QO in the first place, since they would be paying nearly $30m for Shark and Danks to be their 4th and 5th starters.

I imagine there was a lot of keystrokes spilled on Rangers boards about how it was a waste of prospects to acquire Hamels in a year they weren't competitive.

This doesn't make a ton of sense to me. Hamels was a guy teams should acquire even if not competitive this season but with plans to do so next. True?

But you pay a premium to outbid teams who need him this year.

Yadier Molina's OPS is .666.

I'm not saying that this proves that Bill Murray was right about them being Satan's messengers on Earth... I'm just sayin'.

Between IMB's photographic evidence of their presence in hell and their regular sacrifice of players to the dark lord under the guise of drunk driving, there can't be much doubt.

Francisco Lindor has an OPS over .830 and has been worth a full win more than Correa in the same amount of plate appearances. What on earth.

Even Keith Law thinks that's disgusting.

I totally forgot Lindor was even playing in the majors.

Things seem to be going great for Garza in Milwaukee:

Matt Garza left the Brewers and traveled to California to be with his pregnant wife for the upcoming birth of their twins and Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports that he’s not expected to rejoin the team this season.

So basically they told him to just stay away until next season.

Was anything posted here about the hissy fit he threw when they pulled him out of the rotation a monthish ago?? He thought it was egregious they would pull him, despite being one of the worst pitchers in baseball this year, and refused to pitchout of the bullpen when they asked him to.

Eh, it's also that they aren't playing for anything at all, so why not let the guy have some extra time with his wife and newborn? I'm not saying him and the Brewers are a great fit, but I think this is reading into things a bit much.

No it's not. You don't just let a guy leave for 2.5 weeks because you aren't playing for anything. That's a meaningfully weird situation.

There's been trouble there for a while now and it's been fairly well reported on by local media. I don't think this is just made up.

went to the mets/yanks game last night

I didn't realize that after the whole usage issue blew up, Harvey didn't pitch for 12 days. Supposed MVP candidate Cespedes also had an 0-17 streak and has a 200 OPS the past week. I really hope the Cubs face them in the NLCS.

Pablo Sandoval exited Sunday’s game against the Blue Jays early after scoring from third base on a sacrifice fly. The Red Sox third baseman reportedly left because of “lightheadedness.”

It’s not the first time this summer that Sandoval has drained himself by sprinting. In July, he removed himself from a game with “dehydration” after attempting to score from first on a double.

Maybe I'm a crazy arch-conservative baseball mind, but if you're a team thats completely out of it, why wouldn't you shut down your young good starters? Like, if I'm the White Sox, I would have shut Chris Sale down like a month ago, because, who cares, and the dude already has mechanics that make people very nervous.

Of course, I'm sure Sale and his agent would be pissed, but he's like my prize asset, so why have him out there playing for nothing other than his own stats.

I'm looking forward to being thoroughly debunked by good info though.
