Getting way ahead of myself but don't make any plans on Wednesday, October 7th. To be safe I'd avoid October 9,10,12,13 and 14 as well (that's how they usually do it right? 2 on, 1 off, 3 on?)

My two deadline nights at my newspaper job are Tuesday and Friday. I'm very glad the wild-card game wasn't on Tuesday and I sincerely hope it becomes a major issue for me that the NLDS begins on Friday.

Very cheap fully refundable flights to/from KC for both what would be the WC Game and Game 4 of the NLDS. Also, there are actual available rooms on my IHG rewards downtown for those nights. That is rare. Trying to decide what to book.

ESPN decided to pickup the Yankees/Mets game on 9/20. Cubs host the Cardinals that day and were one of the possible choices. I'm betting this means the Cubs/Pirates game on 9/27 will be the ESPN game.

The other choices are Orioles @ Red Sox and Mariners @ Angels.

Cubs/Pirates is the only one of those 3 that is likely to be an impact game for both teams, so that makes perfect sense.

Man, I really hope that Cubs/Pirates series doesn't end up being amazingly epic. I've got a wedding I can't get out of, so I can't use the tickets I set aside for myself.

Are there any articles out there that estimate changes in pitching stats when pitchers move from the NL to AL and vice versa? For example, on average pitchers moving from the NL to the AL see an increase in ERA of x.xx. If so, can someone point me in the right direction?

So barring injury, that pretty much eliminates any chance Haren starts the WC game, though he could start the play-in game if there is one.

I hope it is because I am going.

I am in a wedding on the 10th (therefore the 9th is also taken up with rehearsal stuff).... God Damn It.

Stupid people getting married.

Didn't have one wedding all spring/summer and have one the last weekend of September, then then one the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th weekend of October (two of which I am in). Inconsiderate pricks and their fall weddings

Same here; nothing all year and then 2 in September and 2 in October. Chewing up my time off with the holidays lurking.

Next to zero chance that happens in the South. That's the surest way to ensure that next to no one comes to your wedding. I've been to maybe two weddings during college football season in my entire life and they were strategically planned to coincide with certain bye weeks.

Remember all those smug Red Sox fans who said "who cares that Theo left we have Ben Cherrington"?

Red Sox hire Dombrowski and Cherrington is stepping down

Wainwright wants to return this season. I vote for the option where he returns for Game 3 of the NLDS at Wrigley and we crush him to sweep the series. As Schwarber is hitting his third homer of the game (in the fourth inning) Wainwright tries to Ted Lilly his glove and in the process feels something pop and has to start his rehab over.

After acquiring Utley, the Dodgers' payroll now stands at $307 million.

*SIGH*

Going to suck when Kershaw gets lit up in the playoffs again

Or when they don't make the playoffs.

Guys, really; you don't have to pretend like it wouldn't be awesome for the Cubs to have [expletive] you money. I wish they could shrug off things going badly like that.
